Erica Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I have a site listed in DMOZ and I am changing the free host account to another provider. I do not want the DMOZ listing of the old host account as they have started to add spam advertising everywhere. How can I get an updated listing in DMOZ showing the new hosted address? Thanks
Meta hutcheson Posted January 1, 2005 Meta Posted January 1, 2005 Do an "Update URL" request. Make sure that the NEW URL can be verified by reviewing the OLD site.
jimbeetle Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Make sure that the NEW URL can be verified by reviewing the OLD site. Would an .htaccess redirecting pages from the OLD URL to same pages on the NEW URL satisfy that requirement?
leer Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 That would be fine. The basic principle is to show the editor without doubt that the change is an authorised one. Using .htaccess or placing a notice on the site are equally as good.
