bbridges7315 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Hello. Some while ago, I submitted the URL http://www.peterlind.co.uk to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Construction_and_Maintenance/Contractors/Building/ I was wondering if you could provide me with a status update of this submission as I cannot see it listed in the ODP category and fear that the website hosting issues we were having at the end of last year may have invalidated the request. All problems with the site have now been resolved. Please advise me on what action, if any, I need to take. Kind regards, Ben
oneeye Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Ben - no sign it has ever been received in that category and the site has not been touched by an editor elsewhere. You may resubmit. Thanks.
bbridges7315 Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 Hello, I resubmitted the site following your advise, but still no sign of it. Please can I get a status check? Additionally, because our site is always developing, some description details that were submitted with the request might soon become out of date. I know that there is a procedure for amending details of a site already listed in the directory, but what is the procedure if site details change whilst the submission is awaiting processing? I don't want to resubmit incase this is regarded as spam but on the other hand I would not want the site to be evaluated against a description that is invalid and get it rejected. I would welcome your thoughts/direction on this. Thanks,
Meta nea Posted February 7, 2005 Meta Posted February 7, 2005 Hi Ben, The site is waiting for review in that category. Don't worry about the description - the editor is expected to rewrite the suggested description if it isn't accurate and/or compliant with the ODP guidelines. Very few suggested descriptions are accepted as they are Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
bbridges7315 Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks. What sort of time-scales should I be expecting on this?
bbridges7315 Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Yes I know. 2 minutes to 2 years. I just thought that someone could narrow this down for me. Put it this way. How many reviewers do you have for the category as I haven't seen anything new here for the past 2+ months?
leer Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 There is no way of narrowing it down. We could have 300+ editors who could edit that category but they may not stumble upon it for weeks or months. Likewise 1 editor may be on their way right now...... but get interupted by the doorbell or the phone. Real life=first and ODP=somewhere after that. Unless you can predict the obstacles of real life there is no way of predicting the work of the ODP editor.
