Guest dsisson Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 Help jandd.com What happened to our listing. I was using this board to get information regarding a more appropriate catagory. I followed the instructions given here and now my site is no longer listed. I was last told that I was about 300th in line for review. I was also told to submit my site to Vista California for a regional listing. This all took place in early January. This is where we used to be: This was the Dmoz catagory I used to listed in.. Please help I am losing my mind......... Dave PS. Here is my original Post. I cannot seem to edit it. Change Catagory?
donaldb Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? Seems that in January you sent in an update request to have your site moved to the higher level Sporting Goods category. It was moved and is currently waiting to be reviewed in that category.
Guest dsisson Posted March 2, 2003 Posted March 2, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? donaldb Thanks for the prompt reply. Can anyone tell me if I have made any progress in the que. I am a little confused regarding changing catagories. Since the site has already been reviewed I thought a meta or editall would check the request and move the catagory or give it a thumbs down and leave it where it was listed. Dave
Guest Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? You can't be sure who handles a request. It may very well have been the editor of the category or one not far above it.

Meta hutcheson Posted March 5, 2003 Meta Posted March 5, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? I see the problem, I think. We NEED a generic sport/bags category, because you guys aren't the only folk that figured out that, say, football and basketball bags could be made in the same factory. That's not just a quick move, and it may take some time (a few days, to a few months -- you know how volunteers are ) to get straightened out, and all the scattered links and sites pulled together. In the meantime, I put the site back in the category where it was listed before, since you _do_ have a company that could be listed somewhere, and it _does_ make a lot of cycling gear. Please don't let this drop, though--check back in a month if there hasn't been visible progress toward building the appropriate category.
Guest dsisson Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? hutcheson I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your action and the prompt way in which it was handled. Sorry to keep bugging everyone. But, can anyone tell me if we are still in queue for the regional listing? http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/V/Vista/Business_and_Economy/
Meta hutcheson Posted March 5, 2003 Meta Posted March 5, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? No, that queue is empty.
uzs980 Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Re: What Happened to our listing? But have a look at the category and see why the queue is empty: Regional: North America: United States: California: Localities: V: Vista: Business and Economy.
