Guest mbartlett2 Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 I have submitted my site to DMOZ in the following catagory: Arts: Visual Arts: Painting: Painters: Portraits Can someone tell me if it was even received? Thanks
Guest mbartlett2 Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 Clickable link http://www.art-and-portraits-by-margaret.com/
uzs980 Posted March 3, 2003 Posted March 3, 2003 A clickable link to the category would have been nice. However I can tell you that your site is not waiting for review in Arts: Visual Arts: Painting: Painters: Portraits nor in any of its letter subcategories. You may resubmit.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted April 13, 2003 Posted April 13, 2003 It has been over a month now. I have read about how busy you guys are here at dmoz but I am asking about the status of http://www.art-and-portraits-by-margaret.com/ submitted to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Portraits_from_Photos Is there any update?
Meta kokopeli Posted April 13, 2003 Meta Posted April 13, 2003 The good news is that it now is waiting in the queue with a submission date of 03/Mar/2003 05:13:42 MST, the bad news is that category is backed up with a queue of over 250 sites--it is likely to be awhile.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 Can you give me any idea of where in that queue of 250 I fall?
dfy Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 We could, but it wouldn't be terribly useful. Editors can go through a queue in any order they like, and there are several ways of sorting queues. There is no way of predicting when your site will be reviewed.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Sorry, I thought they would be reviewed in the order they were submitted. I am listed well in Google, Yahoo and msn so I guess it isn't all that important anyway.
Meta windharp Posted April 19, 2003 Meta Posted April 19, 2003 Its the editors choice to do so or maybe look for easy submissions to be processed first or choose one of the other sort criteria that are available. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest mbartlett2 Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Mine probably isn't one of the "easy" submissions, I never do anything the easy way I really do feel for all you editors, this can't be an easy job. Hang in there and I will too.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 It's been another month now, am I any closer to being reviewed? Like maybe a month closer?
motsa Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 It hasn't been a month, yet. It'll have been a month on May 12 -- come back then.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 OK
Guest mbartlett2 Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 Hey! it's the 12th!! I'm baaaaaaaaaack. Am I one month closer to being reviewed now? I know, it's only been since March that I've been waiting and many have waited longer but we're ALL anxious!
lachenm Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 Well, I can pretty much guarantee that you are indeed one month closer to being reviewed, as your site will eventually be reviewed, and one month has passed. Unfortunately, your site is still waiting with over 250 others, so it may take a while. Please feel free to check again after at least one month, but also please realize that with such a large backlog, it may take quite some time to be reviewed.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 Well it's been ANOTHER month. What's in the queue now, about 500?
Alucard Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 No, around the same number of sites as before. Your site is still in there. The site does actually already have a listing in the ODP, in the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arkansas/Localities/G/Green_Forest/Arts_and_Entertainment it appears as though it got listed there in 12-May-2003 This does not preclude you from being listed in the category you asked about here - the editor deemed you to have a regional presence, and so you were listed in that other category too.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 Thank you so much for your reply and I appreciate the listing in the regional catagory. The reason I did not submit to that catagory in the first place is that this is such a tiny area that there is no need for a web presence in this region.
Meta hutcheson Posted June 12, 2003 Meta Posted June 12, 2003 We look at it the other way around. The place is so small, every website is precious.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 Green Forest would be SO proud of you for saying that, especially since you are from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.[broken External Image]:http://smilies.networkessence.net/s/contrib/edoom/Flush.gif
Meta hutcheson Posted June 13, 2003 Meta Posted June 13, 2003 Hey, I'd move back to civilization in a heartbeat.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 Yeah, I love these Ozarks hills, you couldn't even get me to drive through Dallas-Fort Worth!! I'm just a hillbilly at heart.
Guest mbartlett2 Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 Can anyone tell me how deeply I am buried now? I would really, really like to be listed.
Meta icxcnika Posted July 26, 2003 Meta Posted July 26, 2003 Situation about the same. There are some more submissions, but certainly not double. It is meaningless to talk about how far down you are in the list, though. If an editor looks at it one way, you're about a third of the way down. Another way, you are very close to the top. In yet another way of looking at the submissions there, you're about two-thirds of the way down. Some editors might see that you're listed, and if the description is fair, copy it. Other editors might prefer to give people who aren't listed a chance first. Curlie volunteer meta editor icxcnika
