Guest Jim Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 I just received a new listing in Dmoz The problem is all other listing have the most important key word " Yo -Yo" in their description My listing has not one key word or any thing to tell what it's about the cat is http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Toys_and_Games/Yo-Yos/ my listing is TheYoStore.com thanks for any feedback
Meta hutcheson Posted March 4, 2003 Meta Posted March 4, 2003 It's not a problem (from the directory user's point of view.) There's no need to repeat words from the category name in each site description -- in fact, the guidelines deprecate it. You should not think of it as a problem either -- every directory user will know you sell yo-yos, and no search engine uses the ODP description as keywords for your site.
Guest rfgdxm Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 Right. Any directory user who would search on "yo-yo" is obviously going to want to look at the cat devoted to yo-yos. From the perspective of wanting keywords in a description, it actually would be more desirable to have related keywords that someone might use rather than one already in the category name.
Guest Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 If I recall correctly, the original submission wanted a giant list of the brands you sell. (Yes, I added the site.) Why not submit an "update URL" request with a guidelines-compliant description if you don't like what I wrote?
