Quit Gloating!

So, what did you have to do? I'm still waiting to become an editor. I made the mistake of asking for a directory that was 'too big' for a new editor. I have applied for another one that has less links...I don't get it yet. Just let me in, and I'll show you what I can do!

Congrats too, have you got all the pills you will need, sleeping pills, asprin etc? Would you do me just one huge favour? Tell the people who send you sites to review to join forums and read all the threads on DMOZ and that way you might not need medication! Good luck David

Sometimes it takes hours, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, occasionally months. It depends on the category, meta availability to review the application, and a range of other factors. Make sure you follow all the guidelines and advice given here as far as the process and checking up on the application goes. And best of luck (though luck shouldn't come into it if you've done everything right).

I applied three days ago, and I keep checking my e-mail every 3 hours to see if I got any e-mail about my submission, it's hard to wait, and I can't forget about it either!

what happens next after becoming an editor? do you have to fill out some other forms, or you start working right away?

You read all the guidelines, then read them again, then take a detailed look at the sites listed and those waiting for you to review, visit the internal forums and say hello (if you want), read the guidelines again, ask for a mentor (if you want), then have a go at your first edit. Anything you aren't sure of, check the guidelines, check the internal forums, then ask away in the internal forums. No forms, no residential training courses, no meetings with the new boss (there are no bosses, only more experienced editors), no pay at the end of the month, and no holidays. :)

Congrats on your acceptance to the editing team. We will look forward to seeing what you have to offer to the directory. Be sure to say hello in the ODP forums. We like to meet new people.

Cool beans, man... Congratulations!

(BTW, I just saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this past weekend at the drive-in. Awesome performance by J-Man)
