felixm Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 I submitted the url http://www.nightvisionmall.com to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Recreation/Outdoors/Optics/ and I would like to know the status of the submission please. Felix
Meta kokopeli Posted March 7, 2003 Meta Posted March 7, 2003 Your site was just submitted 5 days ago, on 01/Mar/2003 15:15:23 MST, please wait a month before requesting an update.
felixm Posted March 7, 2003 Author Posted March 7, 2003 This is the 3rd time I have add the url. It just never gets added so I was just wondering maybe something is wrong with my site.
Meta kokopeli Posted March 7, 2003 Meta Posted March 7, 2003 The editors reviewing sites are all volunteer...it is not that something is wrong, it is just that no one has been able to review it yet. Resubmitting often makes more work for editors and takes time away from editing when duplicates have to be removed from a number of categories in order to leave the submission in the best possible place. In this case, it appears one submission overwrote the old one--leaving the new date. Your site has not been deleted, there is no need to resubmit. You can come back here in a month and find if there has been progress.
felixm Posted March 22, 2003 Author Posted March 22, 2003 Just wondering what position I am in to be reviewed by an editor? thank you.
Meta kokopeli Posted March 22, 2003 Meta Posted March 22, 2003 The position doesn't necessarily mean much...but you are close to the bottom of a queue of around 50 other sites. By resubmitting you overwrite the previous submission and put yourself at the end of the line should the editor doing the evaluating go in order of submission date. Editors can review in any order they would like, but many of us do sort by date. I would recommend not submitting again, your site will remain until it is reviewed and you gain absolutely nothing by resubmitting. Your last date of submission is March 1.
felixm Posted April 5, 2003 Author Posted April 5, 2003 Well I hope I'm not bothering you. Just wondering what the status is.
Meta kokopeli Posted April 5, 2003 Meta Posted April 5, 2003 Please wait a month before asking again, you are welcome to inquire after 4/21. Thanks
Meta kokopeli Posted April 24, 2003 Meta Posted April 24, 2003 Sorry, no change as of yet--site is still waiting in the queue.
felixm Posted May 14, 2003 Author Posted May 14, 2003 Just wondering what place I am on the list of being added?
Guest Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 There are no places on a list. We simply have a number of submissions that wait to be reviewed in a given category, and editors are free to proceed whatever way they like. Some sort by date, others review submissions with guideline compliant titles and descriptions first etc.
Meta kokopeli Posted May 14, 2003 Meta Posted May 14, 2003 [senox beat me and gave basically the same answer]
felixm Posted May 15, 2003 Author Posted May 15, 2003 Well thanks anyways. I have just been waiting for 3 months and nothing.
felixm Posted June 16, 2003 Author Posted June 16, 2003 I was just wondering if there are any updates on getting www.nightvisionmall.com listed in this great directory
Meta kokopeli Posted June 16, 2003 Meta Posted June 16, 2003 Your site was listed on June 8 in: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Niche/Military/
felixm Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 Why wasnt it add to the original category I applied for? I dont sell just military products. I sell 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th generation night vision, and also Day time optics like binoculars, monoculars, spotting scopes, rifle scopes, which all have to do with optics, not military. They are not all military
Meta kokopeli Posted July 15, 2003 Meta Posted July 15, 2003 As noted in the post about dmoz being down, I cannot view the editor notes or get in to the editor side at this time. I do remember viewing your site and am pretty sure that it was moved from the category you submitted to as an editor felt it belonged in the military category. If you disagree, you can do a url update for the category where it is listed now and ask that it be moved to the original category. The decision depends upon an editor agreeing that it belongs in the other category...editors list sites based on their experience and where they deem it to be appropriate. I'm not sure what the status is upon submitting sites, I would wait to submit a change request for a week--so that the current portion of the upgrade has been completed.
