unleashed Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Please let me know the status of http://www.webhostingunleashed.com, submitted to http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/Directories/ Thanks!
bobrat Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 The site was reviewed and does not meet the requirements to be listed. This link provides many, but not all the reasons why sites may be denied a listing. http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude Also read - Why won't you get into a discussion about why you won't list my site?
unleashed Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 Reconsideration I believe the primary reason why the site was rejected is because of affiliate links. However only 2% of the hosts listed in my directory have affiliate links. 18 hosts out of 830. I believe my site is a very useful tool in selecting a web host and should qualify for inclusion in this category. I receive emails everyday from webmasters that it's a useful resource and all the reviews on my site (Over 2,300 of them) are submitted by webmasters and unbiased. Compared to other sites my site has no banner advertising, useful search tool http://www.webhostingunleashed.com/advsrch.php and over 400 free articles and over 2, 300 reviews that have been submitted over 2 years, and about 100 are being added every week. Let me know if anything can be done. Thank You
unleashed Posted February 2, 2005 Author Posted February 2, 2005 Any chance? Is there any chance of reconsideration, because I'm afraid if I keep resubmitting my site will not be looked at carefully. I have done a lot of improvements since 2002 and I think the site is now ready to be listed, but since I submitted several times I don't want to submit again. Please give me advice on what I should do. Thanks
oneeye Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I can't say why your site was rejected but ultimately all rejections boil down to a lack of original content of value. Sites can improve the value of their content and be reconsidered at a later point. However, as a site that gives the impression of providing unbias information, the association by affiliation with any of the reviewed companies strikes me as voiding any credibility the site might otherwise have. Which makes all the content questionable and the site ineligible. Just my personal opinion. We can't stop you re-suggesting the URL and an editor will take a look at the site in due course to see whether anything has substantially changed with regard to the value of the information. But in my personal opinion I would focus your energies in other directions, the site appears to be performing well enough as it is.
unleashed Posted February 2, 2005 Author Posted February 2, 2005 Thanks for the reply. We don't write any reviews ourselves for the host. Otherwise we would recommend the highest paying/converting host which is IPowerweb, but you can see that they have 64 negative reviews on our site http://www.webhostingunleashed.com/reviews/ipowerweb-reviews.htm and we wouldn't accept any negative reviews for our recommended host but we do. I will try submitting again. If possible please forward this thread to the moderator of the category. I wouldn't care this much if my content wasn't original but it is. Thanks
oneeye Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Cut and paste the URL to this thread at the end of your suggested description. It is the only way the editor will possibly read this. I don't hold out much hope, sorry.
