SiteTutor Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 our new design is up ... http://www.sitetutor.com Do I resubmit or can I simply get in touch with the last editor? Mike
bobrat Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 [i'm assuming you are not asking for the status of a suggestion you made.] If you wish to resubmit, and are absolutely sure that your site is now very different than before, you should do so yourself. Contacting an editor to ask for a submission is not the correct thing to do.
Meta pvgool Posted February 3, 2005 Meta Posted February 3, 2005 our new design is up ... http://www.sitetutor.com Do I resubmit or can I simply get in touch with the last editor? 1) We don't care about design. Unique content is the only thing we are interested in. 2) Do NOT contact any editor. If you resubmit you must very cleary state what you changed and why your site could be listed this time. This can be done in description field. Description [reason] But as your site has been rejected several times before you must be very sure your reason is valid. Read the guidlines given on DMOZ about which sites we list and which we never won't list. Enough Unique Content is the keyword here. If you don't have this on your site please do not suggest another time. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
SiteTutor Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 What would be the best category to submit to?
bobrat Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 We would have to spend time reviewing your site to tell you that - so we don't offer that service. It's up to you to spend the time choosing the best one.
SiteTutor Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 I had a feeling that would be the answer
oneeye Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 They aren't, editors are just unpaid volunteers with other things in their life. There are a lot of people here wanting a status check and we can't provide personal attention and get through them all, and do what we are editors to do, edit, and ... you get the picture!
SiteTutor Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 Thanks for clearing it up I am a regular at many forums and newbies ask a lot of question and I never preach like that
oneeye Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 This isn't a regular forum, it is a place for specific questions in specific formats and under specific rules to be asked by those suggesting sites for inclusion, and answered as quickly as possible by editors, again in more or less set formats - most of us have a set of stock answers that we cut and paste as replies. You then go away, monitor the category you suggested to, and return 6 months later if necessary and ask the same question over. Hope that helps.
oneeye Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Not a problem. If you look back you have actually been given some very useful straight talking advice by my fellow editors that should enable you to (a) determine whether to suggest, (b) since the site has been rejected how to make the suggestion in a way that will ensure that when its time for review comes the editor will pay regard to (content) improvements made. And they have made you aware that what we are interested in is not design but high quality unique content and lots of it. I think they deserve your thanks more than I!
SiteTutor Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 I have gotten a lot of friends' and clients' sites into DMOZ in the past 5 years and always neglected my own ... untitl now. I know I have submitted many times and I feel bad about wasting you guys' time. I know it is not about the design, and I didn't mean that. However I am happy my new site is finally up and I like it a lot. I hope you guys can include me this time. I myself am an editor at JoeAnt (not timeconsuming) and help many people improve their search engine rankings. I forgot what it feels like to be talked to like you're 5 years old just because I didn't say something right. All I am saying: instead of assuming, it would be more polite to ask instead! Mike
Meta pvgool Posted February 5, 2005 Meta Posted February 5, 2005 However I am happy my new site is finally up and I like it a lot. I think that is a very important point. You must alwast build a site in the way you want it to be. I hope you guys can include me this time. In one of the previous post I have given you advice to add extra comment to the suggestion. If you don't the site will probably be rejected based on previous experiences with the site. All I am saying: instead of assuming, it would be more polite to ask instead! Sorry, but we will (almost) never contact any person that suggested or owns a site. We purely decide if a site will be listed on the content of the site. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
SiteTutor Posted February 5, 2005 Author Posted February 5, 2005 I forgot the extra comment and I already resubmitted
Meta pvgool Posted February 5, 2005 Meta Posted February 5, 2005 Just suggest it again (with the extra comment) in the same category. The new suggestion will overwrite the previous one. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
SiteTutor Posted February 14, 2005 Author Posted February 14, 2005 Where would I add the comment? In the description for the site?
