ldickens Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 This site was submitted under Shopping/Food/Seasonings. It has been submitted more than once since last July. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the once-a-month submission policy had been changed...so my apologies for multiple submissions.
jimnoble Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 We don't have a once a month submittal policy. Multiple suggestions to the same category don't worry us in the slightest; each one merely replaces the previous one, thus keeping it at the bottom of the pile (if the editor sorts the pile by date suggested). If you were asking for a status report, please provide a clickable link to your chosen category as required by ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING.

uzs980 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Your site is not waiting for review there. But I have found a submission of December 27th in the Meat subcategory.
ldickens Posted February 7, 2005 Author Posted February 7, 2005 I've submitted about 5 times or so since last July when we came online. If the one on Dec 27th in the http://dmoz.org/shopping/food/seasonings/meat is the only one found then that one will be it...call it the will of the Internet Goddesses. We get better over time with our submissions:-) I appreciate any effort to get this in the ODP by Spring since that's when our good season starts...I understand this is all volunteer.
bobrat Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Each time you submitted you wiped out your previous submission. That's like waiting in the line at the meat market, and when you don't get served fast enough you leave the line and walk to the back. It doesn't help you to get listed faster.
ldickens Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Thanks. I assure you and Jim Noble that I get it. I hear you two saying that the latest submission overwrites previous submissions. Once upon a time the ODP had a different policy than the current one. That policy was in effect when I last did a website submission (which was a different website from the one under discussion in this thread). I apologize for not carefully reading the current policy. I wish I had never brought up the fact that I did more than one submission for http://www.guysseasoning.com starting last July. My submission (assume the only one since it was the latest one) was done on January 27, 2005 give or take a day. Given the current workload of your volunteer staff can you give me a reasonable time to wait until I ask for another status on this website?
Meta hutcheson Posted February 9, 2005 Meta Posted February 9, 2005 The rule's the same for everybody: one month after the latest submittal.
Meta shadow575 Posted February 9, 2005 Meta Posted February 9, 2005 My submission (assume the only one since it was the latest one) was done on January 27, 2005 give or take a day. Given the current workload of your volunteer staff can you give me a reasonable time to wait until I ask for another status on this website? I refer you back to Item # 2 where Jim suggested you read the Posting guidelines. In them you will find the answer to this question. Per the guidelines you are required to wait at least 6 months between status update requests. uzs980 gave you an update on February 5, 2005. This makes you next eligible for a status update no sooner than August 5, 2005. The answers to your next questions can probably be found in the FAQ. Hope that helps. ldickens Posted February 10, 2005 Author Posted February 10, 2005 uzs980 gave me a status on the 12/27/2004 submission (this was useful). uzs980's status was that he found the submission. Unfortunately I submitted again on 1/27/05 but uzs980 didn't mention finding that one and his post was on 2/5/05 which is after the 1/27 submission. So, with all due deference to your volunteers, at this moment I have no idea whether I even have a submission for this website. The timeline here is that I read and understood the "submission policy" after I made the 1/27/05 submission. The only useable info that I've gained from this thread is that uzs980 found the 12/27/04 submission and that your process would have deleted that submission in favor of the 1/27/05 submission. I still don't know if that's a fact and if the 1/27 submission has been found. Tell me when my 6 months status request timeframe should start in this case. I certainly want to set my calendar so I can go through this wreck again.
Meta shadow575 Posted February 10, 2005 Meta Posted February 10, 2005 My apologies, sorry for the confusion. It appears Hutcheson and I were posting at the same time and I didn't realize that there was a resubmission that overlapped the status update already given. What Hutcheson said is correct. If you last submitted 1/27/2005 you can check back here after 1 month (2/27/2005) then each subsequent follow up status check would be no sooner than 6 months from the last request. You are correct that submission would have overwritten the existing one leaving the most recent for review. There is often a slight delay from when the site is suggested to when it actually appears in the category unreviewed pile. That is why it probably wasn't noticed in the previous status update. Again, sorry for the confusion. spectregunner Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 And.....please do not resubmit again unless specifically told to do so by an editor on this forum.
ldickens Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Shadow, thanks for the information. I'll check back as you indicated. *gunner, time to see your shrink.
ldickens Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 I was reprimanded by uzs980 for starting a new thread when requesting a status. Since he didn't offer a solution to fix my sin, I'll just tack the same request onto this old thread. Please provide a status for my submission of 1/27/05 for http://www.guysseasoning.com to be added to the directory in http://www.dmoz.org/shopping/food/seasonings/meat. Thanks.
ldickens Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 Since my thread was deleted then restored it lost it's "state"...this is to reset it to unanswered. Thanks.
motsa Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 You were told on February 6 that your site was awaiting review in the Meats subcategory. Any subsequent submissions by you are irrelevent from the point of view of this forum and its rules. You are next eligible for a status check on the site after August 6. Please don't ask again until then.
oneeye Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 The one from 27th December is waiting there, as was indicated earlier. Where the one from 27th January is I couldn't tell you, but the key point is, we have received your site is a category close to where you think it should be. There is nothing more you can do but to wait for it to be reviewed and you will know when that is by virtue of it appearing in one of the categories it could fit into. Or it might be rejected or still waiting - you can find out about one of those two in 6 months time by bumping this thread. Thanks.
