Directory21 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Please let me know the status of http://www.complete-directory.com/ submitted to: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/ Thanks Sam
oneeye Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 It's an interesting concept - a broad ranging directory with 2 links in each category, the same two links. Unfortunately it isn't for us, sorry.
Directory21 Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Hello oneeye thanks for reviewing my submission. I am adding 50 links a day to various categories as they are reviewed and considered good quality. Once I have a large number of listings is it listable then?
Meta hutcheson Posted February 9, 2005 Meta Posted February 9, 2005 No, a large number of listings (or as the case be, a large number of repetitions) isn't what makes a directory listable. Build your site to suit yourself and your goals, and write off the ODP as a site promotion scheme (unless and until you suddenly remember your first submittal and realize why it was spam.)
Directory21 Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Build your site to suit yourself and your goals, and write off the ODP as a site promotion scheme Good Point! Just keep reading how valuable DMOZ is for new sites. (unless and until you suddenly remember your first submittal and realize why it was spam.) Little bit confused by this, do you want me to remove the link in my submission request first post?
oneeye Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 No, the site as it stands should not have been submitted and if you realise why then maybe one day you could suggest it again. But the chances of getting a broad-based directory into a condition whereby it offers us the unique high quality edge we need in order to consider it are very remote - the idea has been done so many times it is old hat. What does such a directory offer our users that they can't get from say... us. We still list directories but they have to be good, very very good. And different, very very different.
Directory21 Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Thankyou for the clarificating, most helpful
