Guest ecameron Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Hello, I submitted somewhere between 1 and 2 months ago to the DMOZ and am trying to find out if my site has been listed. url is www.ecameron.biz submitted to this category Regional > North America > United States > Ohio > Localities > C > Columbus > Business and Economy > Internet I dont know how to make it clickable link to the web design category, but there is one category deeper that I submitted to, for webdesigners. Thanks!!
lachenm Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 First of all, a clickable link, such as: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Ohio/Localities/C/Columbus/Business_and_Economy/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ would be nice. Second, you don't even have a business address on your site. As a result, you are unlikely to get a listing anywhere in the Regional/ branch. If we don't know where your business is located, how do we know where to put it? Regional/ is generally for sites that have a "real world" (i.e. brick and mortar) presence or are in some way focused on a given area. If you have a location where clients can meet with you, place the address on your site, and submit to the appropriate locality. If not (and even if you do), you can also apply for an appropriate category in a topical branch (Perhaps an appropriate subcategory of http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/ )
Guest ecameron Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Thanks for your help, Here is the clickable link http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Ohio/Localities/C/Columbus/Business_and_Economy/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ and I added our address to the bottom of the page. Definetely neccesary! Thanks!
lachenm Posted March 17, 2003 Posted March 17, 2003 You're welcome. I see that you have re-submitted, so please feel free to check back in a month or so if your site has not been listed. If you do, please re-use this thread instead of starting a new one.
Guest ecameron Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Hello, I've been checking the dmoz lately and it doesnt look my site has been added yet. Is there some revision I need to make to my site or could you please advise? Thank You
Meta windharp Posted April 16, 2003 Meta Posted April 16, 2003 to quote a previous statement: Second, you don't even have a business address on your site. As a result, you are unlikely to get a listing anywhere in the Regional/ branch. After looking around for some time, I realized you added the address to your start püage only. As soon as the editor clicks on the "About us" page or "Contact" to check for the address, it is no longer visible. Why dont you - like most other companies do - give your address on the contact page? Do you really expect customers to trust a company that wont give the address in a clearly visible way? Or in this case: Of course a site cant be listed regional when the editor is unable to spot any information on where to list it. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest ecameron Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Ok, Thank you for your advice. I have added the company address to our contact page. It does seem to make sense to have it on that page especially, doesnt it? Thank you for your advice. What other steps do I need to take now in order to get this site listed? Thanks
Meta windharp Posted April 16, 2003 Meta Posted April 16, 2003 Resubmit. Maybe adding a comment like [added address to xyz-page] to the description, so the editor will notice that he should check again :-) Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
