giglo Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I am a little curious of how my application is progressing. I submitted http://www.rugforless.com over 4months ago to the cathegory: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Floors/Carpets_and_Rugs/Handmade/ I would be happy to know the status. Thank you in advance!
bobrat Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 The site was reviewed in November and found to be under construction with no Shopping available. If you feel the site is working you may suggest it again. However --- When I view the site in the FireFox browser, there are are several problems with display alignment, and overlapping or truncated text. Several of the categories [style/Design/Shape] say There are no products in this category other do not display anything. Several links only display a page with a phone number. Learn About Rugs/Buying Rug - should say Buying Rugs and the link to Living Room underneath it fails Maintaining Your Rug -> Rotating is just a phone number etc. etc. [being picky while I'm here ] Sqare is mispelled. SouthWestern I think should be two words. Under Knot Types insert an extra blank line between Senneh and Jufti It would be good if you could fix up the problems becuase it make it easier to get listed.
giglo Posted February 22, 2005 Author Posted February 22, 2005 The site is all set now, no difference between firefox, netscape, opera and explorer. Thank you for your input. I resubmit the site yesterday and are waiting for an approval. Thanks giglo
spectregunner Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Then you are more than welcome to return to this discussion thread (please bookmark it) in no less than one month to obtain a status check on where you are in the review process.
giglo Posted February 23, 2005 Author Posted February 23, 2005 thank you very much, but I think I submited the site twice, will this make me removed from the queue of being submited?
uzs980 Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Submitting twice to the same category? The newer submission will probably overwrite the older one, that's all. The newer one will stay for review.
giglo Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 I got an email to tell you guys when we have products in our website to get approved, and now I does that, do I need to resubmit myself or will u guys take care of it?
uzs980 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 When an editor reviews a site that doesn't work, he usually deletes the submission. So you should resubmit, unless told otherwise in that e-mail that no one knows but you and the editor who wrote it.
Meta hutcheson Posted March 11, 2005 Meta Posted March 11, 2005 Reviewed, early March. Down. Rejected. If you think your server is stable, you can submit again.
giglo Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 I resubmited it again, I havent been approved since november last year! hope I'll be approved now
Meta hutcheson Posted March 14, 2005 Meta Posted March 14, 2005 Bump the thread in a month, for the usual status check. Speaking as a user, I run into a lot of rabid-fixed-layout-CSS sites that turn into collages when you crank up the text size. I appreciate your fixing that, and I'm sure your users will too.
giglo Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 but that shouldn't be an issue for not being approved? so u mean that I need to get ride of my css? that's the only reason to solve this issue
spectregunner Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 No, we don't reject sites because of horrid design or layout, unless it is so bad as to inhibit navigation and make the unique content unaccessable. We often comment on a site's design when we think it is particularly good, or particularly bad. That is all it is, is a comment.
bobrat Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 In fact if we take enough trouble to give extensive feedback as I did above, it's often because we liked the site enough to spend some time looking at it and would like it to be listed, but don't want it rejected because of some problem.
giglo Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 alright I preciate and valueable the feedback u guys give us alot, u told us about the mozilla issue and we corrected it, but we want our site to be listed asap do get some business going, we are continiously working on improving the website, and we take everything you say into consideration. But we would be very glad to get listed. Thanks - Giglo
spectregunner Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Now you are atthe point where all you can do is wait, and unfortunately, in Shopping/ the waits are often quite extensive. But you are doing the right thing in continuing to add content: we editors are suckers for unique content.
giglo Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 don't you guys approve the sites? can't u just go in and approve it? how long time do u think we need to wait approximatly
jimnoble Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Posting here does not expedite the processinbg of your listing suggestion. If it did, we'd be swamped within days. Please see How long until my site will be reviewed?.
giglo Posted March 30, 2005 Author Posted March 30, 2005 i just wanted to check how the status look like now??
Meta hutcheson Posted March 30, 2005 Meta Posted March 30, 2005 Bump this thread in a month from the last time you were told to bump this thread in a month, and we'll check into the status.
giglo Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 can you please be more clear on what you mean about bump the thread in a month?
spectregunner Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Bump the thread means: go away for a full month and then return to this exact thread and ask for your status then.
giglo Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Ok - I am bumping the threat - How is my status looking? Thanks
Meta hutcheson Posted April 26, 2005 Meta Posted April 26, 2005 listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Floors/Carpets_and_Rugs/Handmade/
