kwburke Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 After searching DMOZ, it appears the most pertinent category would be: Business: Industries: Manufacturing: Electronics: Distributors and Vendors. Yet I can not find the category Industries under Business. Could someone send a blind man the link? Thanks.
Meta icxcnika Posted March 20, 2003 Meta Posted March 20, 2003 You'll have to give us another hint. The Business category was recently re-organized, and electronics was combined with electrical. If you're a wholesaler, the most generic category is http://dmoz.org/Business/Electronics_and_Electrical/Wholesale_and_Distribution/ If you or your client/friend/family member specialize in a particular kind of electronics, we may be able to nudge you closer to the perfect spot. kwburke Posted March 20, 2003 Author Posted March 20, 2003 Thanks. I just posted the location from the suggestion in DMOZ. The website is of a electronic component distributor.\THANKS
Meta icxcnika Posted March 20, 2003 Meta Posted March 20, 2003 OK! Wholesale distributors of electronics components are in http://dmoz.org/Business/Electronics_and_Electrical/Components/Wholesale_and_Distribution/ . Except for businesses specializing in semiconductors. There is a link to the correct category if that is the case. Curlie volunteer meta editor icxcnika
dfy Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 >> I just posted the location from the suggestion in DMOZ << Can you remember where you saw that suggestion? I'm guessing that it was in a category description somewhere. If you can let me know, I can go and correct it so that others won't have the same problem you did.
kwburke Posted March 20, 2003 Author Posted March 20, 2003 here is the URL from where it was mentioned: http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Business/Electronics_and_Electrical/Components And what it said: Business: Electronics and Electrical: Components This category includes listings for manufacturers of electronic, electromechanical, and electro-optical components. Distributors should be placed in : Business: Industries: Manufacturing: Electronics: Distributors and Vendors Hope it helps. You guys (and gals) do a great job.
dfy Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I've updated the category to give the correct information. Thanks for letting us know about it. <add> Oops. I hope motsa didn't fix it before me, or I've overwritten what he did. Either way, it's fixed now. </add>
motsa Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Yup, you overwrote me -- doh! Oh, well. All that matters is the category link is now correct.
giz Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 rfgdxm: >> I've overwritten what he did << As far as I know, Motsa is a she.
dfy Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Blast! So she is. I'm always getting genders mixed up here and in the ODP fora. Sorry again. Though you seem to be pointing that remark at rfgdxm, so maybe I don't need to worry after all.
Guest rfgdxm Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 rfgdxm: >> I've overwritten what he did << HEY, time out! *I* didn't right that. You've blamed the wrong person for giving an editall an online sex change operation.
motsa Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 And here I was trying to be polite by not mentioning it.
giz Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 And there's me blaming rfgdxm as I know that dfy doesn't make mistakes Actually I had just read several posts in a row by rfgdxm, both here and on WW, and just got caught in a rut assuming he wrote everything.
kwburke Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 Thanks. I hope my submission goes as quick.
