leepearman Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Dear Editors/Support, Please can you give me a status report on my business website submission to DMOZ that i submitted almost 1 year ago if I can recollect correctly. Unfortunately there may now be a new submission for this in your pending list as I re-submitted to DMOZ again if only in a different category, not realising that this would have a negative effect till now, (i know i should have done my research and I am praying that I have not wrecked my chances!!) I just got anxious as to why I had not yet been considered although I now know that in some cases it can take up to 1 year and i should have been more patient. I understand that you receive more than a manageable amount of submissions so I am not trying to jump the queue but would appreciate if you could give me a progress report so I know where I stand. Thanks site submitted :http://www.futureitservices.co.uk to http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/
uzs980 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 A submission of November 25th is waiting for review in Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: F, along with many other sites.
leepearman Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 Many thanks. I guess I should wait at least another 2 more months then. I was sure I submitted it before Nov 25th but hey, you are the ones that know!. Thanks again for your swift reply Lee
uzs980 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 We even ask you wait six months between status requests in this forum. But of course you may check the category page every now and then to see whether things have changed or not. By the way, the "About us" link on the bottom left of your homepage is broken.
leepearman Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 thanks. yes i see what you mean. because i recently got rid of this page and i forgot to update. Cheers for highlighting the fact chat soon.
uzs980 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 By the way, you may also additionally submit your site to the category of your locality, Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: West Sussex: Hunston. The two submissions will be reviewed by two editors, and in the end your site might get listed in both categories.
leepearman Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 reply to previous And its perfectly fine for me to do this, it wont be regarded as "resubmitting" then and get dropped to the back of the queue? (I take it you MUST not resubmit to the SAME category but its okay to submit to different categories then) If so, how many categories are you allowed to submit to before its deemed unreasonable? Thanks for your advice Lee
oneeye Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 If so, how many categories are you allowed to submit to before its deemed unreasonable? Normally just the 1 unless an editor tells you that you can submit to another category, as in this case. There are a small number of highly defined instances where a site may receive more than one listing, this is one of those - one in Computers (a "topical" listing), one in Regional (a geographical listing), though neither are guaranteed to be accepted. They will not impact on one another.
