mcgarry Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Hello, My site has suddenly disappeared from DMOZ after being listed for quite a while here: http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports/Motorsports/Auto_Racing/Classifieds/ Here is the information as it was listed in DMOZ: Title = Race Car 2000 Classifieds URL = http://www.racecar2000.com/ Description = Offers listings for buying, trading, or selling race cars, racing car parts, and auto racing collectibles. Includes photographs, and links. Although, it seems to show up if I run a DMOZ search on "racecar2000.com"??? Is this a glitch? Thanks for your help, Chris
Meta hutcheson Posted March 10, 2005 Meta Posted March 10, 2005 Open Directory License Requirements. Is this a glitch?
jimnoble Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 'Your' directory appears to contravene the terms of our license agreement. On the other hand, I suppose it could be entirely coincidental that your category structure and content mirrors ours .
mcgarry Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Hi jimnoble, Thanks for your helpful response. No, your right "my bad" I had the attribution on some of my sites but not others. An honest oversight on my part. I have now added the attribution to all of my sites now (I believe from the license agreement that is what is needed). Please let me know how I can be re-included. Will I need to resubmit (ugh)... or do you have a magic wand? Again thank you, Chris
Meta pvgool Posted March 10, 2005 Meta Posted March 10, 2005 No, your attribution is not correct. Look at our samples. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
mcgarry Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Hi pvgool, Thanks for looking. I want to make this right. I believe what I'm lacking is the $cat part in the URL. I will add this today/tonight. It is a little involved because I had imported the data over a year ago and I did not keep the original category path. That's ok I will fix it. Data entry gotta love it!! Chris
mcgarry Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Hello, I have now fixed the problem on two of my sites: http://www.racecar2000.com/ and http://www.gokart2000.com/ I will be working on the remaindered of them over the next few days. Will I need to re-submit http://www.racecar2000.com/? http://www.racecar2000.com/ was the only one listed (in DMOZ) out of them all (now I know why!!). Many thanks for helping with my problem. Chris
jimnoble Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 You need to correct all of them before resubmitting. If you're using our data, you need to comply with the license conditions full stop. Whether or not you plan on suggesting an individual URL to ODP is irrelevent. The sentence on your directory page We have gone to great expense and spent a lot of time to create a racing directory of links to car racing sites, auto racing sites, professional driver sites, and car racing sites of all types and descriptions seems a tad exaggerated. I'm sure the reviewing editor will feel really appreciated when s/he sees that.
mcgarry Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Thanks jimnoble I will. I understand what your saying on the "great expense and spent a lot of time" text also. That may give me sour grapes too (if I was editing). Thanks again, Chris
mcgarry Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 Hello, This is strange to me. I had fixed all of the sites last month and resubmitted them all on 3-12-2005. Then today I went to go ask about my main site http://www.racecar2000.com/ in the shopping site submission status forum. I posted a message (it went through cause I saw it) then it disappeared. A while later I submitted a second message (thinking ok that was wierd) and the same thing happened. Obviously my messages are being removed but I'm not sure why. I believe I'm following the guidelines when asking but I'm in the wrong somehow I guess. Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong so I can ask for a submission status? Thanks, Chris
mcgarry Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 That is great news! Thanks djdeeds and have a fantastic weekend! Chris McGarry
