Guest Fiete Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I submitted my site Domain: http://www.ahsc-frankfurt.de/ several times during the last year for the following category: http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Regional/Europa/Deutschland/Hessen/St%E4dte_und_Gemeinden/F/Frankfurt_am_Main/Gesellschaft/ The site can already be found under http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Regional/Europa/Deutschland/Bildung/Studium/Studentenverbindungen/Altherren-Stammtische/ Because of the scope of the AHSC events and its extensive program it would also fit under the Frankfurt_am_Main/Gesellschaft/-Category. Can you check the status, please? Thanks in advance for your help! (P.S.: I may have used http://www.ahsc-ffm.de last year, but I now prefer http://www.ahsc-frankfurt.de.)
Meta windharp Posted March 28, 2003 Meta Posted March 28, 2003 The submission is still waiting for an editor to review it. Not very astonishing, since the submission date is 14/Mar/2003... Anyway: You could maybe have used the old thread for this question or enquired in the german language forum. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest Fiete Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 Thanks for your answer, winharp. I am quite sure that I have submitted it already last year. Maybe (as I wrote) under the URL http://www.ahsc-ffm.de. What happened to that one?
Meta windharp Posted March 28, 2003 Meta Posted March 28, 2003 As you could have known from a lot of other threads in this forum, multuiple submissions of the same URL to the same category overwrite each other. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest Fiete Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 Sorry, but I am quite new to this topic. Please allow 3 questions: 1. Does this mean, that there is no history information of what happened last year with my submission of ahsc-ffm.de? 2. Is www.ahsc-frankfurt.de able to overwrite www.ahsc-ffm.de? 3. What are the chances that ahsc-frankfurt.de is included in the Gesellschaft category in near future? Thanks in advance for your help!
Meta windharp Posted April 2, 2003 Meta Posted April 2, 2003 Please allow 3 questions: Of course, thats what this forum is made for :-) 1. No, it doesnt mean that. It was deleted for being a mirror of your main site. (Long before you posted btw.) 2. No 3. We cant give any timeframe. Editors are not bound to editing limits, all are volunteers, doing everything in their spare time. It depends on when an editor finds the time to work in the category where you submitted and if the editor thinks it is listable there. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest Fiete Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 It was deleted for being a mirror of your main site. That's interesting. How do you determine which site is the main site and which the mirror? I would not know. It is only that the hosting company gave me 3 urls for my site. (Long before you posted btw.) You write the 'mirror' was deleted long before I posted. At that time there was not any entry of any of the urls in the directory. We cant give any timeframe. Editors are not bound to editing limits, all are volunteers, doing everything in their spare time. I appreciate your work and the work of the other editors. Can you give a hint, how many sites are in the queue in front of me? Regards, Fiete
Meta windharp Posted April 2, 2003 Meta Posted April 2, 2003 How do you determine which site is the main site and which the mirror? Either by random (i.e. first submission) or by examining the site. Anyway, you dont really expect us to talk about "how do we detect mirrors" in the public, so that spammers would just have to read this forum for education, do you? At that time there was not any entry of any of the urls in the directory. Right. I didnt say it was deleted from the reviewed state, did I? Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest rfgdxm Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 >Anyway, you dont really expect us to talk about "how do we detect mirrors" in the public, so that spammers would just have to read this forum for education, do you? ROFL. Yeah, best not to reveal everything. I've actually figured out several different sneaky ways that people could use to abuse the ODP that I have never seen anyone else mention. For obvious reasons, as an ODP editor it would be inappropriate for me ever to reveal these to the public.
alpine Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 No doubt you'll be sharing these wizard wheezes with your fellow editors, though?
Meta windharp Posted April 7, 2003 Meta Posted April 7, 2003 Thats what the ODP internal editor forums are meant for. Not for the purpose of misuse but for checking those sites <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
