Guest Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c The "about us" link seems disabled on a number of screens. Why is that? Can people really visit your store to make purchases?
Guest deanril Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c The second link on the Javascript always has problems with netscape and alike browsers. I keep forgetting everytime I come here its all Mozilla browsers. I changed about us to #3. In addition there is a link on the bottom footer, non java, for about us. Yes we have about 10% of our business from local sales, they come in we sell and mount the product. I can scan the page in from the local telephone book if that helps? Or give us a call and ask for directions to come down and get some of our product.

Permit me to say that's pretty prime stuff you're smokin' there, and could we all have a puff?
Guest deanril Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c So what your implying is I have a About Us link, yet I dont want anybody to click on it? So what I have done is put an About us link for the sole purpose of some DMOZ editor? And then in my infinate wisdom I made it so it is messed up, thinking somehow this will help me? Whos smoking what are you crazy? Ecommerce 101 - About Us is about one of the most important links there is they want to know where their $2000- $10,000 of hard earned money is actually going, to purposely have a jacked up About us link is suicidal. It wasnt purposely, KcTipton mentioned that to me before about 2 months ago at WW and I forgot about it, and when she mentioned it I rememberered she had mentioned it before. She had also mentioned that when using her MAC with IE that same Javascript menu is all green and takes up half the screen. I also told you awhile ago, its a base package site, I have no control over the code, I fill the pages. I have promptly fixed the error, why does it justify a "your full of it" comment? Why does it have to be so bad to get a site listed, how come is so unpleasant to come here and ask has my site been reveiewed yet? Why do i have to be accused of lieing?
Guest Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c KC (me) is a he who was not trashing your site and is, in fact, strongly considering listing it in spite of your getting his gender wrong and getting your own silly self all bent out of shape.
Guest deanril Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c I appologize I thought I read over at WW that you were a she, then I saw the pic.. and thought you were the one on the right, my bad. Im just frustrated.....then Hutchenson is playing with me...compounds the situation...
spectregunner Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c The second link on the Javascript always has problems with netscape and alike browsers. I keep forgetting everytime I come here its all Mozilla browsers. Tastes vary among the editor community, just like in the rest of the world. There is no requirement, or even encouragement for Editors to use Mozilla. Editors are, often, encouraged to test sites with a different browser if they have trouble getting a site to load properly. This editor, for example, primarily uses Opera, but falls back to MSIE if necessary. The point here is that when an editor in this forum tries to tell you that something is not working right, their motivation is one of helping, not one of criticism. If I think a site stinks, has no redeeming content, horrid design and broken links/menus, I'm not going to waste my time passing along notes to the webmaster. I have better things to do with my time. Yet, if I see a site that has a lot of potential, that seems to have good content, but is hampered by problems, I'll often pass along some unsolicited comments to the webmaster in the hopes that they will fix whatever ails the site. I suspect my practice does not vary greatly from what other editors choose to do.
Guest deanril Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Re: status : http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.c I understand that fully spectregunner and appreciate you explaining that to me. If you look at the thread earlier months ago, a editor was having a problem with my cart using mozilla. So I downloaded it, and the newest one aswell, and still had no problems, but through this experience I did realize that the editor was only trying to point things out so that I may correct them so when the editor of the paticualar category does come by its clear sailing for the review. I also know Hutenson well, from reading not personally, and have commented in the past at WW how I enjoyed his sarcasm and he was very good at it. Now the editor who checked my site says I re-submitted on July, which I(me) did not, and would not do so, if I did i would be waiting for a long long time, it just wouldnt make any sense to do that. So now after months im just frustrated. If KCTipton were to go back to my site Im possitive the 2nd link would behave the exact same way, it not on purpose, its a small bug with mozilla browsers. I also took KC's note on the 2nd link as help, I did not take it as bashing. I just remmebered my experience with mozilla, and it seems alot of DMOZ editors do use Mozilla, so again I made a comment about mozilla browsers, but did not consider what HE (KC) said as bashing at all. Thank you!
