SmashinYoungMan Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I'm inquiring into the status of http://eastcoastgathering.com. It was submitted to the category, http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Regions/ Thank you for your time and assistance.
oneeye Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 The category you quoted does not accept submissions - can you please check again. Also, when did you suggest the site?
SmashinYoungMan Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 The category you quoted does not accept submissions - can you please check again. Also, when did you suggest the site? Ack, I misremember. I've submitted to so many directories over the past few weeks that it's all running together in one big mush in my brain. Seeing as how my site covers the eastern USA in general, I most likely submitted it to either one of these two categories: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Regions/Mid-Atlantic/ http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Regions/South_and_Southeast/ So far as when I suggested it goes, it was within the first week or two of February. It has certainly been more than a month. Dmoz was the first directory I submitted to. Thanks again and sorry about the initial lack of specifics.
oneeye Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Probably the Mid Atlantic category at a guess. And I suspect it hasn't been quite a month. No information is available yet on this suggestion, please check back in a week and don't suggest it again in the meantime. If there is still no information at that time an editor will advise you of your options.

SmashinYoungMan Posted March 26, 2005 Author Posted March 26, 2005 Just checking back in on this Easter Eve.
oneeye Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Received and awaiting review by an editor. All you can do now is to wait for that review, which could be anytime - 2 minutes to 2 years, there is no way of predicting. In the meantime check the category from time to time to see if it is listed. Thanks. http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Regions/Mid-Atlantic/ is where it waits but it is unlikely to end up there - an editor will move it to an appropriate sub-category at some point no doubt, so check sub-categories too.

SmashinYoungMan Posted April 20, 2005 Author Posted April 20, 2005 This is not a premature status request: I'm just curious as to whether or not the category the site was submitted to can be changed prior to the its being listed. The site is much more suited to http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Message_Boards/ as it is, primarily, a discussion forum, even though its general theme is travel.
djdeeds Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 When it is reviewed, the editor will decide if it should be moved to a better cat.
Meta hutcheson Posted April 21, 2005 Meta Posted April 21, 2005 Your taxonomy is off the map anyway. We subdivide first by topic, then by media: Exoteric/Widgets/Blogs, not Computers/Blogs/About_Exoterica/Widgets.
SmashinYoungMan Posted April 21, 2005 Author Posted April 21, 2005 Rog-o. Thanks, you two. My site went through something of a morphing since I initially submitted it, and I just wanted to ensure that my submission reflected that.
