dougg Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Hello, I am looking for the current status of spyware-appz.com This site was accepted to DMOZ some months back (12/04 judging by my log data for referrers), in this category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Security/Malicious_Software/Spyware_and_Adware/Products_and_Tools/ Now, when I go to that category, I do not see my site in the list, however, when I search the term 'spyware appz' (no quotes) at DMOZ, I get the following result: Open Directory Categories (1-1 of 1) Computers: Security: Malicious Software: Spyware and Adware: Products and Tools (1 match) Open Directory Sites (1-1 of 1) Spyware Appz - Resources, including information, tools and software products for protection against invasion of privacy, identity theft, system damage, and other problems associated with Spyware, Adware, and Malware. -- http://www.spyware-appz.com Computers: Security: Malicious Software: Spyware and Adware: Products and Tools (1) This tells me the site is in the database, but I don't understand why it only shows in the search, and not the category list referenced in the search result.(Please also keep in mind, I had put the site on the back burner and didn't realize it had been accepted until very recently. I would love to build on what I have, and certainly do not want to see the site dropped for any reason.) Your feedback is very appreciated. Best, Doug
Meta pvgool Posted April 9, 2005 Meta Posted April 9, 2005 Sometimes we check all sites listed. When this site was checked not so long ago an editor noticed it didn't comply to our guidelines and was therefor removed. Current status of search "Search database last updated on: Tue Feb 22 10:25:13 EST 2005". Seems we ar a little behind updating our search database. Reasons why the site was removed can be found at http://dmoz.org/add.html and http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
dougg Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 pvgool, As dissappointing as that is to hear, I appreciate your quick response and information. I will focus on tightening up the site, improving and developing it further, and re-submit. I can imagine what your answer to this next question is, but I will ask just to be sure: If I improve and resubmit the site, to comply with the guidelines, will it make any difference at all that I was once listed (in terms of getting listed again?) Thanks, Doug
Meta pvgool Posted April 9, 2005 Meta Posted April 9, 2005 When you change the site in such a way that it isn't violating our guidelines you may resubmit. My advice is to add a remark to the suggestion why you think it should be reviewed (do this by adding a comment between [ ] at the end of the description). A warning: in its current state it has no chance of being listed, it will need very big changes I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
dougg Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 pvgool, Yes, I understand...I was a bit surprised it had been added. I had big hopes for it for more articles, a forum, timely review of products, etc, but got side-tracked with other projects. Thanks for your recommendations. Dougg
