cj68 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 my site http://www.jimandjoanne.com was removed from DMOZ...presumably becasue I re-submitted too many times, in too short a period of time. Sorry..I was not aware this was an offense that could get you removed from DMOZ. I was just fine tuning against others who used heavy repetition of keywords.. How long must I wait until I resubmit that site for consideration to be listed again? CJ68
spectregunner Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 You are mistaken The website in question is listed in http://editors.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/L/La_Quinta/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/
cj68 Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 OK Thanks... That's not where I asked to have it put...but that's close enough. Thanks again.. CJ
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 11, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted April 11, 2005 That's http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/L/La_Quinta/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ We list real estate agents only in the location of their office. As you don't specify your office location on the site, it took a while to find the right city -- so your site moved from Palm Springs to Palm Desert to La Quinta.
spectregunner Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 And private appeals to editors are a major breech of etiquette. Do not contact editors via PM in an effort to get them to do your bidding, especially when you want them to violate ODP editng guidelines on your behalf. This is exactly why we have exceedingly strict and inflexible rules with regards to real estate sites. It is something that the agents have brought upon themselves.
cj68 Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Ok Sorry Spectregunner I just joined this forum a day or two ago, and this is my first thread, so I am not 100% familiar with the protocol of DMOZ forums. In other forums, if they provided a way to directly contact anyone, then doing so was considered acceptable. I apologize for any breach of etiquette. I am truly not trying to get you to violate any rules.. and honestly I don't know exactly what the rules are. Basically my initial question in this thread was answered, so I thank you and ARUBIN for your input. At this point, however, in checking my listing under LaQuinta, I realized this is the same description as I submitted years ago. I am just interested in having DMOZ consider updating that to something more in line with the current content. I have submitted the required form on the DMOZ website to initiate that request. If you believe the current DMOZ description is better then the one I submitted, so be it. I trust that you will do what's best to reflect the content of the site. I will not push this issue any further. Again, I apologize for any breach of DMOZ forum protocol, and thank you for your time on this matter. CJ68
