viraljhaveri Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Hi administrator I update the url of http://www.windowsanddoors.co.uk (before that it was only http://windowsanddoors.co.uk) and also update the title & descriptions of it. can you please let me know when will this changes get the effect? my listing is on http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/Doors_and_Windows/Plastic_Windows_and_Doors/ regards Viral
jimnoble Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 But your update request was only today. Did you not think that the ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING, which requires a one month delay before asking here, applied to you? Entirely coincidentally, I declined it only a few hours ago on the following groundsThe existing URL works fine, so there's no reason to change it.The existing description meets our editor guidelines. Your suggested replacement, being largely a list of keywords IIRC, did not. <added> Please don't plead SEO as a reason for change. We have no interest in that topic. </dded>
Meta hutcheson Posted April 13, 2005 Meta Posted April 13, 2005 The current URL and description comply with our guidelines; there is thus no reason to consider a change. <added>I checked on this independently before Jim posted. He's right this time....</added>
viraljhaveri Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 yes i know that current url is as per seo guidelins. but you can see that search engine captures two different sites windowsanddoors.co.uk and http://www.windowsanddoors.co.uk. so it just duplicates. so if possible just add www in url. I would not mine if you don't change Title and description as per my suggestion. But will highely appreciate if you add www in a url. regards viral
Meta hutcheson Posted April 13, 2005 Meta Posted April 13, 2005 This is not something that the ODP needs to address. Get your server configured right, and the ODP will automatically follow.
viraljhaveri Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 there is no problem with my server. but it was added by mistake. so if possible please add www in a url viral
jimnoble Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 This might seem terribly rude, but we have to get the message across somehow. No
viraljhaveri Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 ok jim no problem your decision is the final decision thank you for sparing the time viral
