Hi,

I applied to edit http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Cornwall/Perranporth/ 4th May 2002, I have not been notified of the outcome and was wondering if my application has been reviewed.

From reading earlier posts I note that not all applications receive a response, which is a shame, the feedback would be useful as it would enable potential editors to refine future applications and maybe sharpen up their editing skills.

In the meantime I'm hoping that no news is good news. I am keen to get started (or start again) and will be watching my mailbox.

Start again? What do you mean by that?

As I said in my earlier post 'the feedback would be useful as it would enable potential editors to refine future applications' if my application is successful then great, if not I'll 'start again'.

I've also read from earlier posts that if an application is unsuccessful it may be worth trying again, either for a more appropriate category or with a refined submission (hence my initial post). Feedback could help me (and others) to improve future applications if the first was unacceptable, this was the reason why I posted a message originally.

Generic feedback based on your application is usually sent with a rejection. The only time feedback is not sent is that rare occasion of a known past abuser of the directory trying to sneak back in. Unfortunately with the 100s of applications submitted each week, the few volunteer editors who review applications can't personalize the feedback more.

There's no application for the category you mentioned in the queue (and no new editor in the cat), so that means you have been rejected.

The category is a good starting place for a new editor, so I assume there was some problem with the sites you suggested and/or the descriptions. If you want to try again, I suggest you re-read http://dmoz.org/guidelines.html . Since you're applying for a cat in Regional, http://dmoz.org/regionalguidelines.html may also be of use.

Good luck!

Regards, Hilde
