Guest bugsonfilm Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Submitted this site www.bugsonfilm.com for your consideration - wondered if I should resubmit as been sometime now and has not been listed. Catagory submitted to = outdoor/wildlife/Europe/UK A preference would be = outdoor/wildlife/NEW CATAGORY 'seashore' Regards Stephen
Meta kokopeli Posted April 11, 2003 Meta Posted April 11, 2003 The editor side of dmoz is currently down, so someone would need to reply later on with a status. As explained in the "read before posting" section, a clickable link should be provided so the editor who is checking can go directly to the category where the site was submitted. I just looked for a clickable link but there isn't an outdoor parent category so I have no idea where you submitted this. I'm finding nothing like the path you gave under http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/. Please provide a clickable link.
Guest bugsonfilm Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 This is the catagory address: http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Science_and_Environment/Wildlife/ Preference would be: http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Wildlife/ (under a new catagory 'SeaShore') Regards Stephen
Meta kokopeli Posted April 12, 2003 Meta Posted April 12, 2003 It looks like there was an error in submission and it got caught by the filters and is being manually moved the the most appropriate category. This is nothing you did, and it will be moved hopefully soon.
Guest bugsonfilm Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 Ahh those filters. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. If new catagory 'SeaShore' (as mentioned above) was deemed appropriate, we would be very content - but respect you need to control pathway titles etc. Regards Stephen
Guest bugsonfilm Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 Hello, just wondered how progress was heading as submitted this site www.bugsonfilm.com for your consideration - wondered if it survived the attack of the filters. This is the catagory address: http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Wildlife/ (under a new catagory 'SeaShore') Appreciate advice Regards Stephen
dfy Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 It's out of the filter, and resting in Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Science_and_Environment/ waiting for attention.
Guest bugsonfilm Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 After seeing the traffic in this site, there is clear appreciation to your work load - thanks for info. Regards Steve
Guest bugsonfilm Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Hello A month ago our site was as follows: "It's out of the filter, and resting in Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Science_and_Environment/ waiting for attention." Can't locate it yet - any news? Regards Steve
Guest bugsonfilm Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 As time has gone on we have honed our title and description. Is it better to wait on this placement and then adjust details or re-submit a fresh application. Steve
Meta kokopeli Posted June 3, 2003 Meta Posted June 3, 2003 If you resubmit it will rewrite your old submission--including the date of submission. This could be a factor in how soon a site is listed, if the editor sorts by date (not all do) of submission. I wouldn't resubmit...rarely does an editor use the description submitted as it rarely complies with guidelines. If your site is accepted you can always request an update later if you don't like what is listed.
Meta hutcheson Posted June 3, 2003 Meta Posted June 3, 2003 I took a quick look at the site: looks interesting, too bad (for me) it's in Flash. But as for "honing" the title, it's WAY too early for that. the original title as submitted needed hacking, adzing and planing first. Probably it would be best just to let the editor take care of that bit. You also might want to look over the Science/Biology categories, as the site appears to represent a topic of global Biological interest, and there is probably a very specific category for that kind of ecosystem -- there don't seem to be many other sites in UK/Science like yours. This is in addition to the current submittal. Obviously I can't guarantee that either or both submittals won't be rejected, but I don't think in this case two submittals, one regional and one tightly-focused topical, would be considered spam.
Guest bugsonfilm Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Thanks for the advice.... and time to have a look at site. Realise flash has its limits for some, but only thing we knew of at the that would present site how we desired. Will contemplate your sugestion about another catagory... for some reason it's drifted from first suggestion of wildlife, europe, uk - so we are exited to see where it will end up..... if accepted of course. Thanks for the info
