mabdr2 Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Sorry...Here is the link to the section http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/R/ and the link to my site http://www.rebelnetworks.com
jimnoble Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months from today, please ask again in this same thread.
mabdr2 Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Why another 6 months? I was told to contact you guys if it ISN'T listed within 6 month. Is there anyway of expediting this? I'm just to trying to get my site listed in at least 1 area of dmoz in the most relevant category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/...ment/Hosting/R/ I would appreciate if anyone could help me. Regards, M
Meta pvgool Posted May 7, 2005 Meta Posted May 7, 2005 Please read the FAQ. It will answer all of your questions. The 6 month waiting period at R-Z has totaly no relation with the review proces at DMOZ. It is just to stop people asking day in day out about their status (we - the editors - still don't understand why they want to ask again). We are not a listing service. As a result we can and will not help you to get your site listed. We will list sites we think are worth listing for our customers. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
mabdr2 Posted May 7, 2005 Author Posted May 7, 2005 The reason that people ask day in and day out is that having your site on DMOZ is extremely benefical for search engine results. Because of the algorithms that google have, DMOZ has more weight than most referring sites. It is for that reason that I am trying to have my company listed - Rebel Networks, http://www.rebelnetworks.com Regards, M
mabdr2 Posted May 8, 2005 Author Posted May 8, 2005 Can someone offer me some advice as to how I can get my site listed? http://www.rebelnetworks.com It would be greatly appreciated
djdeeds Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 No. Not here anyway. Sorry. You got all the information we can give you.
mabdr2 Posted May 8, 2005 Author Posted May 8, 2005 it says that my suggestion is awaiting review? Is there an expected goal of when suggestions are reviewed and responses for that review are given? I know that the goal of this directory is to present relevant listings in each category...my site is within the category relevancy.
djdeeds Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 it says that my suggestion is awaiting review? YES. Is there an expected goal of when suggestions are reviewed and responses for that review are given? No, there is no goal in time, and no response is given. I know that the goal of this directory is to present relevant listings in each category...my site is within the category relevancy. That's great! Thank you for the suggestion!
mabdr2 Posted May 8, 2005 Author Posted May 8, 2005 Sorry it's just frustrating...on the hosting category...there are hosting companies that are simply buying out websites that are listed on dmoz in order to get the listing...and once you get to that site...there is a 5-10 sec delay and it redirects to another company that purchased that site. My company is located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada I'm working extremely hard on getting prospects to our site. One of the things that could help me out a GREAT deal is to get 1 simple listing on dmoz. Can someone please try to help me out? Fortune City is one of the biggest hosting companies in the world and they have hundred and hundreds of listing on dmoz...all i'm asking is for just one.
dogbows Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Hello Marc, I'm sorry but posting in this forum will not speed the review of a site. It is very unlikely that the editor that reviews your site will have ever read your post in this forum. There is absolutely nothing more that you can do other than suggesting the site. I do have a suggestion for you. You are allowed one Topical suggestion as well as one Regional Suggestion. Since you appear to have an actual local business, I would suggest that you also submit the site to this category in Regional. The two suggestions will be considered separately and will not affect each other. Good Luck. http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Ontario/Localities/M/Mississauga/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/
Meta hutcheson Posted May 8, 2005 Meta Posted May 8, 2005 No, we can't use the forum to accept expedited review requests. In fact, there isn't any way to request an expedited review of a site -- and that's absolutely OK with all of our customers. We do expedite "quality control" issues like redirections, so if you would care to point out some of these cases that you mention, we would be happy to look at THOSE quickly. You may also suggest the site to the Mississauga category: that category might be worked on more quickly than the other one (or might not, but I'd bet small sums that it would). The two reviews are independent: either, both, or neither might actually get listed.
bobrat Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Fortune City does not have a myriad of listings in DMOZ, however, I would agree that there are a lot of fortunecity.com URLS listed - but that is because each one is a separate website for a separate person/company - those sites do not represent Fortune City as a company
mabdr2 Posted May 9, 2005 Author Posted May 9, 2005 Thanks! really appreciate your time on helping me
