nrandal3 Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 I have tried several occasions to submit my site to: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Regions: North West: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet: Web Design and Development : Lancashire. However I think there may be a problem, I am actually based in Merseyside, which is not a choice in the directory. My website is http://www.worldofwebsites.co.uk We are based in Southport Merseyside. Southport is half in Merseyside, half in Lancashire. Is it possible to add Merseyside as a choice in Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Regions: North West: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet: Web Design and Development And if so can I be in that category. Many thanks, Nick Randall
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted May 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted May 8, 2005 To quote someone, somewhere: "No, no, no, you're doing it all wrong." In Regional, location is paramount, then topic. So, you first look up Southport Merseyside, which can be found at http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Merseyside/Southport/ . You then go as deep as you can to find the appropriate topic. There don't seem to be enough computer sites in Southport Merseyside to warrant a split, so you should suggest the site to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Merseyside/Southport/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Merseyside: Southport: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet This is not based on review of your site, but only what you've posted here.
nrandal3 Posted May 8, 2005 Author Posted May 8, 2005 Thanks Thanks for the rapid response. If I were to submit again (but in the correct directory) would it be treated as spam, as I read somewhere too many submissions are a bad thing? Please let me know Thanks Nick
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted May 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted May 8, 2005 There's always a chance that an editor, when reviewing duplicate submissions using one of our multiple-category tools, might accidently delete all of them -- or that two editors, reviewing the sites at the same time, might each choose to delete all but one copy, but choosing different copies, hence deleting all of them. In your case, I would recommend resubmitting, though. Place in brackets in the description field, but after the actual description, something like [Resubmitting to correct Locality -- please delete submission to Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Lancashire/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/] That latter category is where "Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Regions: North West: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet: Web Design and Development : Lancashire"" actually maps to. You might also put a link to this thread in the brackets, although not all editors look at RZ at all. For what it's worth, because an editor moved the site, I can see your site is also waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/W . These reviews are independent, and you would not be considered a spammer if you suggested the site to both the Regional and Computers categories.
