Guest cheryl Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Could someone tell me the status of our submission of http://www.torontocollegepark.com? thank you
Guest Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Please provide a clickable link to the category where you submitted your site. Thanks.
Guest cheryl Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 sorry http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Ontario/Localities/T/Toronto/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/
Guest Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Your site has been listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Ontario/Localities/T/Toronto/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/Commercial_and_Industrial/ a few weeks ago.
donaldb Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I'm not sure why it was moved into Commercial. I've actually moved this back up to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Ontario/Localities/T/Toronto/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ as it covers both the commercial and residential aspects of this property.
Guest cheryl Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 sorry one last question. After acceptance how long does it normally take to show up in the directory? thanks again
dfy Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 It should show up almost immediately, but sometimes there's a delay of a few hours if our server is busy doing something else. Your site can be seen in that category now.
Guest Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Showing up in ODP search results may take longer, as the update of the search database depends on the generation of the RDF dump. Concerning our downstream data users, they have their own update schedule which we can't say much about.
Guest cheryl Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 Perhaps you can help me further. I submitted the following 30 word description as it covers the sites intent: College Park, a historic Toronto landmark, offers residential condominiums, offices, commercial space, restaurants, entertainment and a retail shopping mall in downtown Toronto. Featuring online rental inquiries, pricing and available space. This description has been reduced to: Offers residential condominiums, offices and commercial space. Includes building features, online rental inquiries, pricing and available space. Since the shopping mall and entertainment components are critical to the sites presentation is it reasonable to request an edit? thank you
donaldb Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 Since I wrote the description, I'll reply. It is reasonable to request an update to the description, but don't expect it to look exactly as you would like to see it Remember that we're not writing the description as an extension of your marketing campaign, we're describing the purpose of the web site, and describing the features available on the web site. Don't describe College Park, describe the web site. Don't repeat words that are already in the title or the category name. You won't see the word Toronto in the description as it's redundant. Hope that helps
