mikekkaplan Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 I am inquiring about the status of my submission of the website PR.com: The one and only time it was submitted: April 17, 2005 My website: http://www.pr.com/ DMOZ category I submitted to: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Press_Release_Services/ Comments: There was no link to submit to http://dmoz.org/Business/Directories/, so I submitted to the category listed above, which I felt was the next best fit. However, I feel the best fit for PR.com is http://dmoz.org/Business/Directories/, so I was wondering what is the best way to go about being considered to be listed in this category preferably in addition to the above listed category, or if not then in place of the above listed category. BTW, if you are interested in listing in both categories, then it may better serve users of DMOZ to have the press release listing go to (http://www.pr.com/press-releases) and the directory listing go to (http://www.pr.com/) I thank you so much for your assistance.
spectregunner Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 The odds of being listed in two topical categories is very slim.
mikekkaplan Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 The odds of being listed in two topical categories is very slim. Thank you for that info. If possible, is there any information you can give me on the more pressing issue in my original comment, which is that I'd like to know the status of my submission as described above. Again, thats for your time and assistance.
giz Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Since it isn't yet reviewed, then "Awaiting Review" would be the best answer here.
mikekkaplan Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Since it isn't yet reviewed, then "Awaiting Review" would be the best answer here. Ok, thanks. How would I go about finding out if and when it is no longer Awaiting Review? ... meaning, how do I find out that is has been reviewed and moved to the next step? You must have quite a job answering so many comments posted in the forum... thanks again for your time.
bobrat Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 I've it's reviewed and accepted - it appears in the directory If refused - you will not be told You must have quite a job answering so many comments posted in the forumThis part of the forum closes tomorrow.
mikekkaplan Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 Question 1 Understood. I've read that it is ok to resubmit after one month of the previous submission. Is it suggested that I resubmit after one month of the previous sumission if I do not see my listing on DMOZ or is that frowed upon? Are my chances of being listed in DMOZ better if I wait 6 months, 1 yr, or does it not hurt my chances to resubmit after one month? I want to be sure I'm doing this exactly as the editors prefer. And I don't want to do anything that would hurt my chances or upset the editors. Question 2 How do I check to see if I've been listed in DMOZ? I ask this because I assume the answer is to type in the website address in the search box, then check the results, HOWEVER, my problem is that since my URL is so short, PR.com and there are so many other webistes that end in PR.com, it is quite difficult to sift through the results of a search for "PR.com." Thanks for your help.
RZ Admin photofox Posted May 20, 2005 RZ Admin Posted May 20, 2005 Hi Mike, There is a submission waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Press_Release_Services Now that you know it is awaiting editorial review there is no need to resubmit again. You can periodically check the category I mentioned above to see if the site has been accepted. Alternatively as you mentioned you can enter "pr.com" into the search box and check that way incase (if the site is accepted) it is listed somewhere else. Thanks Curlie Admin photofox
