Meta Eric-the-Bun Posted May 21, 2005 Meta Posted May 21, 2005 I've been writing/rewritig my first website for 3 months and finally put it up last Monday, tweaked it on Tuesday, submitted it to DMOZ on Wednesday and was listed by Friday! Ok so perhaps I was lucky enough to submit it at the right time (though I think the editor for the West Sussex/Bognor Regis category is quite active) but the speed means that the editor thought it was good enough to review immediately - what a compliment! I am still on a high. You have made me very happy John Though I am a volunteer editor, my opinions do not constitute an official Curlie statement. :o I reserve the right to be human and make mistakes. :o Private messages asking for submission status or preferential treatment will be ignored.
Meta nea Posted May 21, 2005 Meta Posted May 21, 2005 Thank you for taking the time to post here about it! It's very nice to hear from people who are not disgruntled with the ODP. :rose: Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
Meta hutcheson Posted May 22, 2005 Meta Posted May 22, 2005 Please don't come to expect too much. Your next three months' work may not find as quick a response, through no fault of anyone's -- neither your own, nor ours. Stay focused. Ask the content developer "Who are you, and what do you know that nobody else does?" (even if that is only "I know what I'll do for money!") And don't stop promoting the site yourself. The ODP suggestion is a public notice -- but it's still your job to get it in front of the right eyeballs. And may all your days be gruntled!
Meta Eric-the-Bun Posted May 23, 2005 Author Meta Posted May 23, 2005 (Hutchnson) Yes, I know - I have a month or so of trying to get other links (for which I am using the open directory project to find suitable locations and as a result submitting relevant urls and reporting broken links etc). Though I am a volunteer editor, my opinions do not constitute an official Curlie statement. :o I reserve the right to be human and make mistakes. :o Private messages asking for submission status or preferential treatment will be ignored.
