freakfish1 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Hi Guys, Thanks for providing such a great service, which i might add is in your own free time. Excellent! I was just wondering if i could contact an editor of a certain catagory? Is this possible ie email? Keep up the good work! Adam
giz Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 There is an edotor name at the bottom of most categories, or in a parent category. More than one person can edit every category. The named editor may not be the most active in the category, might not be active at all. Editors are encouraged to not respond to email. They may read suggestions, but many will not reply.
foetusized Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Go to the ODP category you are interested in, then click on the editor's name listed at the bottom of the page. That will take you to the editor's profile ( http://editors.dmoz.org/profiles/foetusized.html is my profile, for example). On the profile, there is an email link, which will take you to a form, which you can use to email the editor. It might not make it through to the editor due to an error, but most likely your message will make to the editor via email. You may not get a response; many editors are reluctant to reply to feedback email which will expose their email address, after some bad experiences -- Foe
Guest wrathchild Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 If you click an editor's name at the bottom of the category, you will be taken to their profile page. There is a link there to "Send to [editorname]." That leads to a form which will generate and email message to the editor's email address on file. Note however that we have found that it is generally NOT in our best interests to respond to direct feedback. There have been too many cases of submitters trying to weasel favors, harassment, abuse, and threats. Don't expect a response. Questions about the directory are probably best asked here. <edit>Gah! Too slow!</edit>
