rkhare Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 i want to submit a site, how do i know how many editors are there in the category. also i want to know how to find whether my site is rejected, so that i can improvise and resubmit again.
giz Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 >> i want to submit a site, how do i know how many editors are there in the category << Since there are hundreds of editors who can edit in each and every category, pay no attention as to whether there is a listed editorname at the bottom of the page or not. The submission guidelines say to pick the category by subject. It says nothing about listed editors, or last edited date; because those things have zero effect on the future. >> also i want to know how to find whether my site is rejected, so that i can improvise and resubmit again. << We no longer give status checks, so, no, there is no way to find out whether a site was rejected, when, or by who. The only thing we make available is the list of accepted sites, sorted by category. Everything else is a distraction from that work. As for quality of site it sounds like you want to do the bare minimum amount of work to get a listing. Why not try another method? Aim to make your site the best site of its type, far surpassing everything else on the web. Guess what would happen then? Editors would be falling over themselves to get the site listed, whether or not anyone had ever suggested it.
Meta pvgool Posted July 10, 2005 Meta Posted July 10, 2005 i want to submit a site, how do i know how many editors are there in the category. This is a totaly irrelevant question as you should suggest the site to the one category that best fits the content of your site. also i want to know how to find whether my site is rejected, so that i can improvise and resubmit again. This is also totaly irrelevant. You can always improve your site, if it is rejected or not. My advice is to read our FAQ at R-Z and the guidelines at DMOZ. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
wcraig3220 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Editor has looked at my site, but not up The Editor for my region has looked at my site. How do I find out when they will upload it, or contact the editor please? Thanks.
Meta pvgool Posted July 16, 2005 Meta Posted July 16, 2005 I suspect you noticed something in the logs of your site. This does not mean an editor reviewed your site. There is no need to contact any editor. If the site will be listed it will show in the category some day. If it won't be listed or if it is still waiting it won't show in the category. We are not going to tell you any status of your suggestion. My advice: start doing other things instead of waiting for DMOZ to list your site. You also might read our FAQ. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
DesertJules Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 wcraig3220 - It seems that you have posted this question several times recently. Forgive me if I sound harsh. Were the other answers incorrect? Or did you simply think you'd try again and catch someone sleeping? I must ask - what reason(s) do you have for contacting an editor? Are you trying to find out when / if your site is going to be listed? Answer: it's listed when, and if, it's listed. Period. Is there something that you believe you could tell this person that would make a difference in whether or not your site is listed? Answer: If the site does not meet the ODP guidelines, nothing anyone could say would help. Why do you feel that bothering a very busy person is going to improve your site's chances of being listed? Please! Relax, go do something else. If your site is listable, it will be listed. If not, work on improving the content of the site. DJ
Meta hutcheson Posted July 16, 2005 Meta Posted July 16, 2005 An editor will make the decision to review based on what's on the site. If there is something that you think would make a difference in that decision, make sure it is on the site.
