bobrat Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 We no longer give out status info - see the link below. I would suggest you not keep submitting - it won't increase the chances of getting reviewed faster, if anything it will just delay a review.

There is nobody to impress an editor and force him to review the site within xxx days (or months) from the time of submittal (not that that would be a constructive thing to do anyway), so you can't expect something to happen at any set time just because of a submittal. "Good" and "useful" are not criteria. "Unique content" is the criteria: and between two sites offering the same content, we'd naturally want to pick the more authoritative one if possible. So the reviewing editor will be asking something like, what information does this site contain that no other site does, or what information does this site present authoritatively that other sites can only produce secondhand? In the simplest terms, "who are you and what do you know?" (the latter question may vary: common variants are: what happened to you, what have you done now, or what would you do for money? It's not fair, it's not ethical, for the editor to impose his own notion of what is "good" website design, or even what's a "useful" website. We just tell people what's on the internet; they may be able to imagine all sorts of uses for the most obscure information.
peter2000 Posted July 14, 2005 Author Posted July 14, 2005 Our Site has unique contents. I can't found a site similar to our site. Many of TV Guides use automatic generated XML. but we produce contents manually. I only want to know what is problem that DMOZ editor don't pay attention to this site.

It can take a year or more for some listing suggestions to be evaluated and that's normal. It'll be one of these situations thoughThe site is good to be listed but we haven't got around to reviewing it yet.The site isn't good to be listed, in which case it doesn't matter whether we've got around to reviewing it or not.Best thing to do is concentrate on other promotional methods and on continually improving your website (which I haven't examined).

jjwill Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 No. But if you see something that you believe is wrong with a particular category such as broken urls, hijacks, spelling, etc you can go to the Quality Control Feedback in this forum, read the guidelines and inform us there.

What if there is no editor for this peticular category? Also if I add a site to different directories, would this help at all? I heard that some editors go on line searching for sites to include in the ODP. It that true?

This is excellent use of your time - whether or not you eventually get a listing in DMOZ, the listings you obtain in these other directories will get you web exposure and traffic. What NOT to do is try to get your site listed in several different DMOZ categories. Good luck with the other directories, and go right ahead. Bill
