UKRobin Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Hi I recently applied to become an editor of http://dmoz.org/Society/Disabled/Organizations and was kindly told it was still waiting to be checked. After I did not hear anything I today applied to edit Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Society and Culture: Disability: Disability Act Compliance Services. as this appears more appropriate to me. This application went through and is now waiting a reply. My question is, my first application was rejected but I received no explanation or email. Could somebody please tell me the reason for that rejection. Many thanks. Robin
UKRobin Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Email receieved please ignore the above I have amazingly just received a reply two minutes ago. Please ignore the above. Sorry for any trouble caused. Robin
jimnoble Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Just to clarify the current situation. Your ukrobin application of 24/Jul/2005 for Society/Disabled/Organizations still awaits evaluation. Your scipilot application of 12/Aug/2005 for UK/../Disability Act Compliance Services was declined by me this afternoon for reasons I've already given you by email. Your confusion both here and in email to me was caused because you made two concurrent applications and matched the rejection note with the wrong one. Editors are not permitted more than one account. Making multiple applications with different editornames is a bad thing .
UKRobin Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Undisclosed web connections. Threads merged. Please don't start new ones about the same subject. I have recently reapplied to edit: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Society_and_Culture/Disability/Disability_Act_Compliance_Services/ I am concerned after re reading the requirements that I did not specify address of web sites that contain articles etc of mine, I did however mention this in my application but as the addresses are many, I did not include them. The two sites I am directly involved with where mentioned. I hope this will not go against me. I would like to thank the person that replied to my second application for their kind assistance in pointing out my previous errors, I found these very helpful. scipilot.
UKRobin Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 Clearing up the confusion: Sorry about the confusion here, I can assure you I was not trying to apply in two names, if I may explain please. I assumed by the email, my first application of 24/Jul/2005 for Society/Disabled/Organizations had been refused but no notification given, so I reapplied to the correct and more appropriate category after this was kindly pointed out to me in a reply to my status update. On the second application I preferred the editor name scipilot (Standing for Spinal Cord Injury) but kept the UKRobin name as my member name in case this exact thing happened. Also I felt it better not to have my member name and user name the same. I’m still a little confused myself as to how the mix up happened but I was thrown by the speedy reply to me second application and mistook it for a late reply to the first. Confused? so am I but apologies anyway, probably caused by my keenness to become an editor. If possible could my first application be removed leaving the category http://www.dmoz.com/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Society_and_Culture/Disability/Disability_Act_Compliance_Services/ as this is my correct field of expertise. If further information is required to clear up this misunderstanding, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I hope this makes sense as I really do not want to appear to be trying to pull the wool over anybody’s eyes. I sincerely hope this does not affect my correct application and I apologise for any confusion caused. UKRobin Scipilot
jimnoble Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 If possible could my first application be removed Oh, I did that yesterday after you made your third application - on the grounds that we don't permit concurrent applications from the same person. and mistook it for a late reply to the first This Forum's FAQ and General Advice says This can take anything from a few hours to several weeks.
UKRobin Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 Preventing future mistakes: Thank you for your patients and understanding in this confusion. Could I finally ask if my last application at: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Society_and_Culture/Disability/Disability_Act_Compliance_Services/ (Scipilot) still remains, as I really would not like to make any further application mistakes by re applying. Once again, sorry for the confusion.
