I know you have discontinued this service. However, I am employed by a multi-million dollar company (http://www.simplyaudiobooks.com) and we are continually concerned as to why we cannot be listed in dmoz. We applied only once several months ago...and have only reapplied recently. We are a leader in our industry with heavy sponsorship and advertising across the USA. Are there any financial options to speed up this process.

Ther are no financial options that will not result in an outright ban. Money cannot buy happiness, and it cannot buy an ODP listing.

The size of your company, or its revenues, have absolutely no relationship to the listability of the website.

]If you only suggested the site a few months ago, your expections are significantly out of line with reality. It can and often does take more than three years before a site is reviewed.

Lets have a vote..who is more out of line.

Me expecting a quality site to be listed in an appropriate directory within 6 months....or all the beurocratic fat cats at dmoz who think 3 years is how long quality work takes to surface on the internet?

You are out of line, for asking a question, getting an answer, and then becoming abusive.

Especially considering that your site is actually listed in DMOZ and has been for some time.

i was unaware of this link...however we would prefer to be linked in the standard category

shopping/books/audo rather than shopping/books/audio/rental

can a switch be made so we can be listed with competitors

Only if you change you business model to a sales rather than a rental company.

we are in the process of changing....however...i do business in this crazy thing called an economy which is completely independant of dmoz. As a result..maybe if I apply for this now it will appear properly in the ODP before its too late. make sense to you? or over your head?

FYI - You may want to step back and think for at least a day before you insult the editors as your are to gain nothing, and may loose what you already have.

It would be nice if you showed a modicum of courtesy to the people who volunteer to respond to your questions.

If and when your site is no longer a rental site, you can use the link called "Update listing" at the top of the category where the site is listed. State the reason why you think the site should be moved, and the update request will be processed in due time (which is usually but not necessarily faster than the processing of new suggestions to a category). If you make the update request before the site contents have changed, chances are that the request will be binned, as the reviewer will judge only what can be found on the site as s/he reviews it.

Wow, just when I thought you couldn't get more condescending and insulting, you manage to outdo yourself. Bravo.

As to your question. Do not submit a site update until the listing is actually ready to be updated. We can only categorise based on what we see on the site, never on promises of what the site will be at some point in the future.

Then that works out for all of us. Yay! Since you can't possibly be concerned about where your site is listed in a dying directory, I'm sure you'll be heading somewhere else quick smart.

To all those who I have spoken with today,

Earlier I was out of line in being so drastic with my comments in this forum. I got ahead of myself. The opinions I expressed were completely out of line with reality and in no way should be taken to represent my employers.

Please accept this as a much overdue appology. I in no way wanted to offend anyone. I understand patience is a virtue and will strive to accomodate this.

Thank you for your understanding,

One last thing, and then I will reclose this thread...I just received your message asking me to review your site--please don't send private messages to editors asking them to list your site where you want it (I do not pesonally reply to these messages). We no longer do status checks here in RZ nor do we edit sites on demand. If you disagree with where your site is listed please submit an update and someone will consider if it is appropriate. Thanks ;)
