Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 Hello, I have tried to list in DMOZ since November of 2001. No luck yet. I have most recently tried in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Recreation/Outdoors/Tents/ I even wrote the Editor. Nothing seems to work and I'm certain I am doing something wrong. I run a Yahoo Store and would love to get exposure on DMOZ. Any help on this would be wonderful.
totalxsive Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 The fact that it is a Yahoo store is probably why it hasn't been listed. We don't list sites that use affiliate links for their sales, as stated in the Guidelines.
thehelper Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 Yahoo stores can act as a shopping cart for people that do not want to host there own shopping cart. Just because a store is a yahoo store does not automatically mean it is an affiliate.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 Your right I do saw that - the site got always rejected for the reasons that it was a templete store/ affiliate web site. But nor its a affiliate site nor its a templete site (only uses yahoo store templete which is for shopping chart). I think that the site using a yahoo store caused the confusion. I am a very new editor - perhaps a more experince editor can help out this problem.
dstanovic Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 My 2-cents. I hope being a Yahoo Store is not the reason for it not being listed. If it is, you guys/gals have a serious problem on your hands because you have tons of Yahoo stores in the directory /images/icons/smile.gif
Guest WLauzon Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 "Yahoo store is probably why it hasn't been listed. We don't list sites that use affiliate links.." Say what???!!!! What does being a Yahoo store have to do with being an affiliate? Yahoo hosts some 17,000 online stores - including ours. The simple fact that Yahoo stores use a template is NOT a factor in deciding if it should be listed or not. I suggest that it might be time to educate some editors if that attitude is common.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 So, Where does this all leave me. Who do I go to for an answer and some help getting listed? Thank you all for the input.
thehelper Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 It is best to submit your site to the single most appropriate category for your site. It appears that you sell a whole bunch more than just tents - you are not going to get a listing in the Tents category I can tell you that. I suggest resubmitting your site to a more appropriate category and see what happens.
totalxsive Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 You can see why I steer well clear of Shopping. Sorry for any confusion caused.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 >>some help getting listed<< Not here. That's not what this forum is for.
Guest WLauzon Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 Do a search. Find out where most of your competitors are. Submit there.
