Just a quick question. I have a site that I have submitted to here but that is not my question. I have been watching the dmoz search and have noticed that there are (2,443) sites. This is the same number of sites that has been there for a couple of months. I was just wondering if anyone adds sites to this catagory. If not is there a similar topic that I may be missing that I should submit to?

Thanks in advance,

Brad

That is not something that we track. The para-editors may be on vacation, or gone back to school, or may have lost interest -- or they may be just waiting to get home today to start working on a category. We just don't know.

No, please don't go "venue-shopping" (or, from our point of view, shotgun-spamming). You can't guess where the fickle editorial finger will strike next: you CAN get a bad reputation trying.

No I wouldn't think of submitting to many different places. I was just wondering if there was another that may have been relevant since there was no change. I understand that this is done by volunteers and I appreciate all the hard work you guys do, but I was just wondering if I would be penalized if I find another catagory that my site fits in.

Thanks,

Brad

If you can find a better category then one more submission there will not harm you but if the best fit is where the site is currently waiting then there is the potential for harming your reputation as hutcheson suggests. Just because the number of listed sites has not changed does not mean there is inactivity - submission pools could have been despammed for example.

I have submitted it to:

http://dmoz.org/Society/Paranormal/

It also fits perfect in this catagory:

http://dmoz.org/Science/Anomalies_and_Alternative_Science/

# Astronomy, Alternative (69)

# Cryptozoology (169)

A brief summary of my site:

All Things Paranormal

A site and community to discuss all things paranormal, ghosts, cryptozoology, U.F.O.s, psychic abilities, etc.

So, it fits both catagories equally well.

Thanks for the super quick replies.

To say whether you are right would require a review of the site. You know your site best and you can read the category descriptions to decide which of the two is the one best fit. Your risk ;)

If you read the descriptions for both categories and compare them to how you just described your site, you'll see that you've already submitted it to the right place. All you can do is wait.
