password not working

i seem to be unable to log in. i just got my account reinstated and i used the password reminder form to email myself the password. the password won't work when i log in. and no, i don't have caps lock on, i didn't mis-type it....it just won't work. my editor name is intarso. any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same bug, I'm unable to log in. I tried the password reminder but it doesn't work too. My editor name is didjiridou.

Same problem for me. I cannot log in to dmoz.org. It's been a log time since I logged in for the last time, but I received the password via email, so I haven't forgotten it.

 

Editor-name is heikok.

To reduce the number of inactive editors visible on public pages, the system times out obviously inactive accounts after a few months. You can request reinstatement as an editor using this form.

Password length when applying to be an editor

 

I am wondering if this relates to problems that some have had with passwords:

 

When filling in the form to apply to be an editor, it only seems to accept 8 characters - it stops echoing '*'s after the 8th, and when my proposed password didn't contain any non alphabetic characters in the first 8 it complained that I needed non-alpha characters.

 

So it seems to me that passwords must be exactly 7 or 8 characters for this form to work, and any extra are ignored.

My understanding is that the some of the DMOZ logins require using only the 8 characters (although that's supposed to have been fixed), and some require the full password.

 

If you are an editor, you might try both.

I am an editor but when I try to access the editors forum I get a 401 message. Is it just me?

The forums work fine for me at the moment. Have you been able to access the forums in the last month or so (i.e. after the crash occurred)?

I don't believe that it is a usual "time out" (see item #10 by windharp) but due to the current server problems we are unfortunately not able to reset your password.

Please watch the announcement at the top of every forum and bump this posting as soon as servers are back.

I am an editor. The forum works fine for me but I can't acess

to the the editor login interface and the Request Reinstatement

of Editor Account service is unavailable.

It looks as though your editor account had already timed out before the system crash. Reinstatement requests aren't possible at the moment. Please watch the announcement thread in this forum which will be updated when the situation changes - and be patient .

No Forum Entry For Me

 

I was reinstated late this year and have never been able to log into the Editor Forum. Same as everyone else.....type in right information and still won't allow me access. I also tried having the info sent to me via email and was told I don't exist. I have NO problem getting in to edit.

 

Any chance of some help here?

I too am having a password issue when trying to login to my section to edit. I am still listed as an editor.

 

My editor name is greglynch. My cat is Recreation/Motorcycles/Associations_and_Clubs/Online/. The reinstatement form is not working and I did not resign.

 

May I get advice on how to proceed please?

Sadly, reinstatements aren't possible right now. Please keep an eye on the announcement at the top of each forum which will be updated when the situation changes.

Thank you for looking that up. I was logging in about twice a month or at least once a month. I'm surprised to see it had timed out.

 

I appreciate you looking into the matter for me and I look forward to the possibility of being reinstated and continuing my relationship with the DMOZ.

Logging in isn't enough . Accounts time out if there haven't been any edits for 120 days.
