Slidinginfo Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I submitted my site http://www.SlidingShelf.com in 2002, then again on October 13 of this year. I realize it hasn't been long, just becoming concerned about what the editors might consider "hype" in the description. Perhaps I've been too agressive with the description is the reason I'm not in ? I wonder... do you receive any feedback when your site is accepted/rejected ? I've never received anything from DMOZ except acknowledgement of registering for this forum. Dan
Meta hutcheson Posted October 27, 2005 Meta Posted October 27, 2005 You may have hyperhyped the description. Most people do. It is unlikely to matter much: editors are generally trained and experienced at hyposuction. We, like, edit the description -- like we do nearly all descriptions. That's unlikely to keep a site out. It is more likely that a site may not have been reviewed yet -- or that it's been reviewed and rejected on its own merits (not your own self-description.) There is basically never any feedback when a site is reviewed -- not one in a thousand sites. There is almost never either reason nor purpose in it, and it is all too often dangerous and counterproductive. (Police in at least three countries that I know of, have been contacted by physically stalked editors within the last few months.)
Slidinginfo Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 Thank you At least I can quit worrying over whether my description in the URL request was overly agressive. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Dan http://www.SlidingShelf.com
oneeye Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 If you think it might be detrimental to you then you can always submit once more to the same category this time making sure the title and description are precisely as per the Guidelines. The new submission will overwrite any nonsense previously sent in and your slate will be clean.
