Guest petert Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 Hi, Could you please tell me what is the status of http://asp-hosting.ca . The site was submitted to: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Internet/ASP/ASP.NET/Web_Hosting Thanks in advance, Peter
motsa Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 You're waiting there in a smallish group. You can check back in a month or more (in this thread) for a status update.
Guest petert Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 Hi, I'm just checking what is the submission status of my web site http://asp-hosting.ca Thanks in advance, Peter
Guest petert Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Hi, I asked the same question yesterday, but nobody answered. I hope I'll have a better luck today. What is the submission status of my web site http://asp-hosting.ca Thanks, Peter
motsa Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 There seems to be a history of this site being unavailable whenever someone has gone to look at it, hence part of the reason it's taking so long. The editor visiting yesterday got a message that the site was down for maintenance. Anyway, I've added it back into the unreviewed queue there since it appears to be up and running today. You can come back to this thread in a month or more to check back up on it.
Guest petert Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 There seems to be a history of this site being unavailable whenever someone has gone to look at it, hence part of the reason it's taking so long. The editor visiting yesterday got a message that the site was down for maintenance. Could you please check what is the submission status of http://asp-hosting.ca. The site has over 99.97% uptime and it's really strange that the site is always unavailable when an editor tries to visit it. I appreciate your help, Peter
brmehlman Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 You wouldn't by any chance be restricting access by IP would you? Or by country of request origin?
Guest petert Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 You wouldn't by any chance be restricting access by IP would you? Or by country of request origin? No, I don't do that. Thanks, Peter
Guest petert Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 My thread went on the second page without answer. Can somebody tell me what is the submission status of http://asp-hosting.ca ? Thanks, Peter
Alucard Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Sure The submission status is "awaiting review" along with just under 100 other sites. Two days after the manual submission was made, which was mentioned above, an editor tried to review the site, and got a redirect to an "Under Construction" page (The redirect was to http://asp-hosting.ca/underconstruction.htm ). This time, though, because of the discussion in this forum, they didn't delete it, but left it for another time or editor. I can confirm that right now the site works for me.
Guest petert Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Hi, Could you please tell me what is the status of http://asp-hosting.ca Thanks in advance, Peter
brmehlman Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 As stated in the posting guidelines for this forum, please wait a month between one update request and the next. Since your last request was on July 10, the earliest we'd like to see another one is August 10. In a backlogged category like this, waiting even longer would be even better. Sorry to be such a pill about it, but asking people to wait lets us handle more people's requests. We appreciate your patience and understanding on this one.

raggedyrugs Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Still waiting with about the same number of others. Please have patience as I'm sure it will be reviewed in due time.

raggedyrugs Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 If you're feelin lucky, 1 month. If not 2 months would be better.
Guest petert Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 I'm waiting since October 2002, so I guess I can wait 1-2 months more Thanks, Peter
Guest petert Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 If you're feelin lucky, 1 month. If not 2 months would be better. I'm feeling lucky today Did somebody review my site http://asp-hosting.ca ? Thanks, Peter
uzs980 Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Your site has not been reviewed yet, but it is now number one when sorting the site suggestions by submission date. Yours, Robert
Guest petert Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Thanks for the quick reply Robert, I hope the submissions are reviewed in the order they were sent . How long does it take for a site that is reviewed and approved to show up in the directory? Thanks again, Peter
uzs980 Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Editors can check submissions in any order they want. When a site has been reviewed and accepted, it's a matter of some minutes up to some days until it is visible in the dmoz.org category page. Passing on the data to external users like directory.google.com usually takes a little bit longer - it depends on when they pick up the new data provided by the ODP. Yours, Robert
Meta hutcheson Posted September 10, 2003 Meta Posted September 10, 2003 >I hope the submissions are reviewed in the order they were sent. They usually aren't. >How long does it take for a site that is reviewed and approved to show up in the directory? "NORMALLY" (all daemons behaving, all servers up, no software upgrades with glitches -- in other words, do not bet money you need on it) 1) dmoz.org public pages -- 1 minute to 7 days; 2) RDF (published Open Directory Database) -- 4 to 10 days 3) google.com and AOL.com DIRECTORIES: 2 months "or so" 4) google.com SEARCH: several weeks at most (after step 2) Note that all of these are automatic processes, programmed fallibly and run intermittantly by other people. This is all based on our prior experience or rumors of other people's activity. So if it doesn't happen this way, don't ask us why, and don't blame us!
Guest petert Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Thanks for the informative answers. The category that I'm trying to get into doesn't have an editor, so I guess this will make my waiting even longer. I appreciate your help, Peter
