Many of your categories (whose structure bears a remarkable resemblance to the ODP's) are empty and the ones that aren't, even ones that would be considered "popular" contain a handful of listings. Therefore, there is insufficient content. Your site isn't waiting under either category. I wouldn't recommend resubmitting.

If a website is added to our directory, then it is also indexed by our spider and can be searched by entering keywords in the search field. As far as similarites in directory structures, you could say that about every "directory" on the 'net. So I should wait until all categories are populated before re-submitting? It takes time because we verify all submissions by hand.
motsa Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 Search engines don't provide a categorized directory of the web sites in their database (e.g. while the Google directory uses the ODP data to provide a categorized directory of web sites, their search engine side doesn't provide a categorized list of all web sites contained in it). You're a searchable directory. As far as similarites in directory structures, you could say that about every "directory" on the 'net.The difference here being that I know you were using the ODP data as the basis of your directory not that long ago. It takes time because we verify all submissions by hand.To quote hutcheson from another thread "The bar for "unique content" for a directory rises as fast as the ODP grows, which is, presumably, much faster than you can add content to your own directory (not having thousands of volunteers to help.)"

apeuro Posted May 3, 2003 Posted May 3, 2003 You could also start by making your searches more relevant: A search for "New York City" brings up online jewlery links. A search for "college football" brings up 6 links to the same online gambling site, and then links to a matchmaking service. With such irrelevant results why would users bother using your site?
