billybrag Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 could i get some feedback on why please? as i never received any email confirmation or any "more specific comments" would be good. Just so i can find out where I went wrong and if there is any point in reapplying. thanks anyway.
Editall/Catmv emil2004 Posted December 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted December 8, 2005 You should have received an email with the reasons on why you got declined. ODP editor - emil2004
jimnoble Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I'm afraid we aren't able to provide a detailed response. Before trying again, you might like to read all the good advice in the sticky threads at the top of this forum.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted December 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted December 8, 2005 Specific to that category -- the submission notice is being updated, but it should include something like Directories covering a specific mode (literature, movies, etc.) or franchise (Star Trek, Star Wars, Tolkien) should be suggested to a more specific category. I, personally, apologize for any problems you may have had if the reason for your non-acceptance was that you submitted sites which match the present description of the category, but do not match the intended description. (I am not one of the editors who reviews applications, but that sort of thing "goes without saying" in the Open Directory Project -- if a site belongs in one of the categories linked in one of the categories in the upper sort order of [cat]Arts/Genres/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy/[/cat], it doesn't belong in [cat]Arts/Genres/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy/Directories[/cat].
billybrag Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 thanks Arubin, so what does that mean then? I never received any emails at all so maybe that part of your system should be reviewed or tested "I'm afraid we aren't able to provide a detailed response. Before trying again, you might like to read all the good advice in the sticky threads at the top of this forum." -The only reason i asked was because this was stated when i signed up... thanks anyway - i just wanted to help
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted December 12, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted December 12, 2005 so what does that mean then? If you didn't receive the E-mail, I can't be sure, but it's possible that you suggested sites which fit the description and existing sites as they existed then, which have now been changed. Please check the category description again before resubmitting. Also, may I suggest that you use an unfiltered E-mail address for the submission, if you can. I've heard that the acceptance or rejection notice is considered "spam" by many of the filtering algorithms. I'm not one of the editors who reviews applications, but it's possible that the new structure would make the category unsuitable for a new editor, because of the many @Links. If you were to be accepted for that category, you would not be able to edit in any of the linked subcategories.
motsa Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Keep in mind that arubin is offering a suggestion only. As he stated, he doesn't review applications and thus would not have seen your application. If I were you and I was interested in applying again, I'd reread jimnoble's post and follow the instructions there.
