Site shown as being in ODP and getting listings for keywords but missing from DIR

Hello,

I was recently checking on my listing in the ODP, I ran some keyword searches and my site was listed in a very good position plus it was shown to be in the directory '/Shopping/Jewelry/Watches/Replicas/'. The domain is milleniumreplicawatches.com. I have resubmitted it because i believe it was taken out for being down, there was a hosting issue and while in Europe i didn't know till I returned. Since it is still being listed as in the directory and coming up with the search 'replica watches' does it still need to go through the editorial process? I assume it does but since it's been in ODP and has not changed other than some minor content can I expect to see it back in ODP after the review process?

Thank you in advance

Nick

If you search for milleniumreplicawatches.com and it shows as being in a category, and you do not find it there, it probably means it was removed in the last week or so.

It could have been remove for a number of reasons -

  • Being no longer suitable for the ODP
  • Being a mirror of another URL
  • Site being under construction
  • Site not responding, server down, etc.

For the first three it will be removed completely. For the last it will be kept in a holding area, and at some point checked again by an editor, and if found to be working, will be returned to the category. There is no frame as to when this happens.

I would suggest you try searching for the URL once a week.

Do you know about how long it remains in the holding area?

If your server was down recently that would make sense, since our pet robozilla recently went on a rampage tagging problem sites. That leaves a heap of work to by checked.

Editors in general try to clear problems like this fairly quickly but it depends on the category and the number of editors who have the time to check in that area. Most are cleared within a few days, but it can take much longer.

Note that if even if an editor finds the site is up and working again that will not always guarantee the sites gets back, if other problems are seen at that time.

In other words - it is not an automatic relisting. The editors will likely re-review a given site to make sure that it is still eligible for a listing, that the content has not been changed, that it is still a good for for the category, that the title and description are still applicable, etc., etc., etc.
