web-rover Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 A few days ago i was looking through a catagory and was suprised to find a number sites which were either dead, or haven't been udpated in months. I used the abuse submission form to report the issue. Today using the ID, i checked the status of the report an was suprised to see that the issus is discribed as "resolved." But i don't see any changes to the catagory.... The catagory is related to a hot topic right now andi find it a bit disapointing to see the catagory so far behind a3a9c1c88eba43676a535d6767e00912
Meta nea Posted February 20, 2006 Meta Posted February 20, 2006 That a site hasn't been updated in months or years is not necessarily a problem -- that depends entirely on the topic. Dead sites are usually made a priority, since that's a serious quality issue, and I would imagine that if the abuse report is marked "resolved" the links you reported will have been taken care of. It can take a few days for changes to be visible in the directory, though. Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
lisahinely Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 If you're just reporting dead sites, and don't have evidence of actual editor abuse, you can also use the "update listing" link (in the top right corner of the category page). There are generally more editors who can work on update requests than on abuse reports, so the dead sites may well be removed more quickly this way. Either way, thanks for your help!
Meta windharp Posted February 21, 2006 Meta Posted February 21, 2006 I just looked into the public category in question which - according to our public server - at the time of me viewing it was "Last update: 19:36 PT, Friday, December 30, 2005" and could not see a single dead link. web-rover Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 i never said a link was dead. I suggested that a "site" was dead....the site i'm referreing to looks like it's been hacked and hasn't been updated in over a year.
Meta pvgool Posted February 21, 2006 Meta Posted February 21, 2006 If you know of a site which should not be listed in its current state you can report that site in Quality Control Feedback. Please first read the threads marked "Important". As such a thing has nothing to do with abuse using the abuseform, which can only be read by meta editors, is not the proper way to do. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
