advice on resubmitting application

can someone recheck my application?

 

I applied for an editor position in this category:

http://www.google.com/Top/Recreation/Food/Drink/Coffee/Home_Roast/

 

The response I got back was that "This is not a shopping category."

 

I assume that they said that because one of the URLs I submitted was a site that sells beans for home roasting in new zealand (http://www.roastyourowncoffee.co.nz)

 

What confuses me is that the category IS for shopping sites. (ALL the sites in this category are shopping sites)

 

Can someone give advice on how to get re-processed? or should I resubmit the application?

First, we are the ODP, not Google so the category you're talking about is http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/Drink/Coffee/Home_Roast/ .

 

Reading http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/Drink/Coffee/Home_Roast/desc.html will perhaps give you a better idea of where the various types of sites belong.

Are we looking at the same category? There are only 6 listings in this category, none of which are shopping sites.

Don't reapply unless you understand the scope of the category you're applying for and are suggesting appropriate sites for it. Just reusing the application that was already rejected will not be beneficial.

I went to the link you provided and saw right away that it is not the category I had intended.

 

I was refering to one of the "related" categories shown on that page:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Food/Beverages/Coffee_and_Tea/Coffee/Home_Roasting/

 

This other category contains over 20 sites, all selling beans.

 

I assume if I resubmit my application under this new category I might have better luck?

If all of the sites you're suggesting are actually selling beans, yes, you'll likely have better results if you apply for the Shopping category.
