mifi601 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I just applied for a category and saw that one of my suggestions was added right away. Application status aside, the description for this site was changed to something that I believe is incorrect, but mentioned on the website, as in 'central location', when it is in fact nowhere near the city center (clearly defined) just wondering whether and if I should say something - and if so, how? cheers Michael
giz Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 When reviewing a website, editors review what is ON that site. So if there is an error to fix, the first place to fix it is on the website itself.....
motsa Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Quote I just applied for a category and saw that one of my suggestions was added right away. Just to clarify -- the two events would have been unrelated. If your application was rejected, the suggested sites disappear. If your application was accepted, then the suggested sites would be added to the unreviewed pool for that category. Meta editors don't go through new editor applications, pulling out sites to add to a category.

If he suggested the sites to the category in question, as well as in the application, it could easily be a conincidence. As for "city center" -- he (or you) could make an update request, noting that the physical site is not near the city center, even though the site claims to be there.

Wow. I don't know of any editors whining. Though I do see the frustrations of webmasters or business owners when they believe the ODP should be a service for them and a means to an end that is in conflict with the purpose of the ODP. Unfortunately for them, it is not. It is however a service for web surfers or anyone who finds the information in the directory valuable.
Meta hutcheson Posted March 16, 2006 Meta Posted March 16, 2006 Like motsa, I think the events are unrelated. But if you think there is some inaccuracy in the current description, then please suggest an update request, or mention it in the "quality feedback" forum.
