eyecon Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 The four MAPS listings are no longer accurate. (June, 2005) None of the described information is available. They are redirects. Blacklist of Internet Advertisers http://www.non.com/news.answers/advertisers-blacklist.html "Last-modified: 15 Nov 1995 06:03:54 +0100" Not one of the listings remains applicable. http://www.cluelessmailers.org/ Last Updated 4/19/03 The Spamware Vendor List (spamsites.org) has not been active in some time: "Why is spamsites.org not being updated regularly?" "I've come to the conclusion that although the spamsites.org site has killed thousands of spamware and spam service sites in the last 5 years it is running to stand still. Spamware is easy to find on the net, spam service sites abound and too many ISP's don't care what their customers sell." Spam lists that are not updated on a timely basis are irrelevant. Now the inevitable bitch: I have been trying, for almost two years to get our site listed. In addition to the real time blacklists, it includes considerable dynamic content, real time data, graphs, charts, tutorials, several methods of searching our database (geographically, by IP or IP range), a multi-rbl check, etc. We provide an rsync server to keep the blacklists current as well as a daily tarball. Yet, the site remains unlisted.
eyecon Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 I forgot to include: This site http://sspbl.tripod.com/ is, essentially, a one page site without original content - just links to whois data for the 15 or so ISPs that they consider spam friendly. It also does not appear to be current. For example, netnation was sold some time ago. The US assets of Cable and Wireless were sold to Savis years ago. I doubt that C&W Anguilla is a source of much spam - none on our blacklists.
jeanmanco Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks for letting us know about the outdated sites and redirects, which have been dealt with, though I have left The Spamware Vendor List, as it is not as outdated as the others you pointed out and the webmaster does hold out hope of some updates to come. Please do not use this forum to urge the merits of your own site. I can fully believe that there are millions of excellent sites that remain unlisted. Imagine though if their webmasters all turned up here to tell us about them! The forum would have to close down. I realise that it is frustrating, but there really is no more effective way of drawing attention to your site than by suggesting it to the appropriate category. You have done that. So to save your sanity, it's best to just shrug your shoulders and walk away. One day a keen editor might arrive and review all the sites suggested in that category. But who can say when? Not me.

I haven't even named my site let alone provided an URL.
jeanmanco Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I noticed. Believe me I'm not unsympathetic. But you see my position I hope?
eyecon Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 Thanks for letting us know about the outdated sites and redirects, which have been dealt with, though I have left The Spamware Vendor List, as it is not as outdated as the others you pointed out and the webmaster does hold out hope of some updates to come. 1. Moving along, the following site (nothing to do with moi) should be listed: http://dnsbl.rangers.eu.org/ 2. The descirption for Blackholes.us is incorrect (IMO). Read their site and judge for yourself. Thanks
Meta pvgool Posted March 10, 2006 Meta Posted March 10, 2006 1. Moving along, the following site (nothing to do with moi) should be listed: http://dnsbl.rangers.eu.org/ The only thing you have to do is suggest that site at DMOZ. It is not possible to suggest sites here at R-Z 2. The descirption for Blackholes.us is incorrect (IMO). Read their site and judge for yourself. You only need to make an update request. Yes, you can make update requests for all sites. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted March 10, 2006 Editall/Catmv Posted March 10, 2006 Yes, you can make update requests for all sites. That's another reason we screen update requests for accuracy as well as for compliance to DMOZ guidelines.
