jerryfmjr Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 SORRY for using submitfire by coffeecup.com!! I have to apologize for paying for a service that may have spammed or over submitted our site to the ODP project! I am a webmaster of an information and support site dedicated to the sufferers of a disease called Myotonic Dystrophy. Myotonic Dystrophy is the most common form of muscular dystrophy, effecting 1 in every 8 thousand people. Approximately 40 thousand people in the US alone. When we started the website, I had already used the ODP on other sites and liked the concept and ease of use, so I added it to our site Wright away. I then proceeded to fill out the necessary information to submit our support site. I also started some Google Adwords advertising and invested in what I thought was a good search engine submission service to help get our site listed on the major engines. Well after about 3 months of using the services, I can say we are page ranked 2 on Google and keep appearing in the top 1 to 10 sites of all the other major engines. The bad news is that after one day sitting down to read one of the submitfire by coffeecup.com submission reports in-depth, I discovered that about number 150 on the list was ODP. I have sent an email to the coffeecup.com team asking them to remove the ODP from my future submissions, as well as a few others. Please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience this may have caused and consider having someone from the ODP team contacting the folks over at coffeecup.com and let them know that they are not only not helping the people that pay for the service they provide, but it is stopping the customers chance of ever getting listed with ODP. Also I apologize if this is the wrong area to post this item, I could not find an area that I could post to that may have fit this post better. Thanks for your time, and keep up the good work! Jerry M.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted May 14, 2006 Editall/Catmv Posted May 14, 2006 Without checking our internal records (which I couldn't tell you about, anyway), I, personally, want to thank you for your comment and informing us about coffeecup.com. (But commercial spam doesn't necessarily prevent the site from being listed -- pretty much the worst that could happen is that all submissions from coffeecup.com might be disregarded without further editor intervention.)
