Guest abiggins Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Greetings I have been attempting to submit http://www.superhero-costumes.com to the directory. Submitting to http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Clothing/Costumes category. The submission timed out with a "The page cannot be displayed" message after trying to open http://www.dmoz.com/cgi-bin/add2.cgi. Submissions have been made 12 May and 13 May. Is it possible to find out whether this submission was received prior to the time-out, or should I attempt to submit again? Regards Niall
Meta windharp Posted May 13, 2003 Meta Posted May 13, 2003 A submission got through but was caught by our filter - either you wait, it will be checked and moved back to the unreviewed of the category you mentioned, or you use a PC without proxy or similar restrictions and submit again. motsa Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Since all of your shopping links are cloaked qksrv affiliate links to BuyCostumes.com, it's not going to be listed.
Guest abiggins Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Hi motsa I assume you mean the javascript to avoid the affiliate link showing in the browser? If this was removed would the site be listed? Thanks for your help Niall
motsa Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Sorry, I wasn't clear. It isn't the cloaking of the links that makes your site unlistable, it is the affiliate links, period.
Guest abiggins Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Thanks again motsa Can you enlighten me. If I had links to other affiliate merchants would the site be considered, or is it the concept and format of the site that make it unlistable? Cheers Niall
Meta kokopeli Posted May 13, 2003 Meta Posted May 13, 2003 ODP requires a site offer original content to have a listing, affiliate content is not original as it is the content from another site. You can read the guidelines at http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#affiliate for further information.
