kenwvs Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Hi All: Earlier today I received notification that I was approved as an editor, and I wanted to say Thank You to everyone who has posted here and provided tips and information on what makes a successful editor. It is the giving of everyone's time that has assisted me in being successful with my application. Ken
The Old Sarge Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 If I may be so bold ... How long did you wait to be approved? The Old Sarge War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. John Stewart Mill
kenwvs Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 I am not sure that the length of time I waited to be approved is a fair question, as I have read in many threads that many variables come into play when waiting to be approved. I will say that I live in Canada, applied for a small topic, and the area I applied for is a fairly popular one, with an active editor. Waiting to be approved can be frustrating, and I am hoping that after waiting, the enjoyment I will get out of being an editor will be worth the wait. Ken
motsa Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 the area I applied for is a fairly popular one, with an active editor.Since category editors don't review applications, the popularity of a category or the existence of an active editor there would have had no effect on applications, nor would the geographic location of the applicant. Welcome!
kenwvs Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 My apologies. I didn't get across my point on this. What I was trying to say was that if a person who approves applications is interested and has knowledge in the area I applied, it may be approved quicker than a topic that fewer people (who approve applications) is familiar with. I wass trying to express that the time it took to approve my application is not necessarily an indication of how long it could take others, due to the category I applied in. Sorry for not being clearer. Ken
