Guest TripShifter Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Hi, My site http://yearbox.com is listed in the following category: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Publications/Calendars/Personalized/ About 2 months ago (and on a few occasions since then) I requested that 2 small changes be made to the listing. There is no editor for this category, which I presume is the reason the changes have not been made. The first was to change the URL to http://www.yearbox.com/yb-main.html, which is the site's main entrance page. (The index page is a splash page with no content other than a graphic.) The second change was to change the listed title from "Yearbox" to "Yearbox Personalised Calendars," which is the official title of the site. I would be grateful to receive news of the status of this change request. Thanks.
Guest Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Re: URL change requested for yearbox.com -- no edi 1. Change of URL: for several reasons we prefer to list root URLs. One of them is that they're usually more stable in the long run whereas links to sub-pages often turn 404 at the next redesign of a site. 2. Change of title: the name of your product is Yearbox. We will not add keywords to the title (or description), especially if they appear in the category path. Conclusion: sorry, your update requests can't be accepted

(The index page is a splash page with no content other than a graphic.) This is the kind of change that (provided the ODP always points to the root URL) is always under your control. Beat your web developer about the head until he fixes it. If that doesn't work, aim for a vital organ. [Full disclosure: I'm not fond of slow-loading no-content graphical splash pages.]
